All

While attempting to remove the oil tank from my Y2K M2 yesterday, I found that the upper bolts were frozen in the wellnuts that they thread into . . . . my bike is ridden in the rain, washed semi-regularly, generally well maintained . . ..

I would up drilling the bolts out, which, of course, rendered the the wellnuts useless, meaning I gotta order some more . .. . no big deal this time of year in Chicago, but it woulda been a real bummer if it was June . . ..

just a heads up . . .check yours', and never-seize them if their not already frozen . . . . order some wellnuts if they are, so you'll have them on hand, when and if . . ..

learn from my mistake, and go on to make new ones of your own!

At least two of the screws into the oil tank of my '00 M2 were cross threaded into the well nuts right from the factory. The oil tank rattled around but never fell out and I didn't have occasion to remove the thing, so they were still cross threaded and holding securely when I got rid of it.

Makes a guy feel downright proud to be a part of the R&D team of a major manufacturing company don't it. I honestly believe the Buell was the best kit bike I've ever owned.

Sorry Ray, I couldn't resist. By the way, after 19,700 miles, the battery on my S-3 is getting a little weak.Bastards put a cheap battery in there!
