sometimes the weather gods just love ya.

we did 300 or so odd miles in the moutains this weekend. What was great was on some of the roads where we have to deal with summer tourist traffic we didn't. pure open roads for blazing a trail.

altho some of our favorite not on the map roads did have a lot of slag on them so we had to stay to main twisty roads.

oh well it was a great day all in all for January...sunny and mid 60's in the high country of NC

I did. Temps were around 50 or so, roads were damp in spots and had a bit of sand buildup on them from the road crews trying to help the four wheelers out at night. Not bad though.

Doing good again, looks like a long term planting for me. Happiest I have been since I left Detroit, almost like a personal homecoming..... It has been thirteen years since I have seen a bunch of these people. The bike shop I used to hang out at has closed.....Walked into another and the counter guy walks up and says "Hi, I remember you...." Thirteen years........

I rode to work and back on Saturday and rode to breakfast on Sunday. Overall I probably did more standing around and talking than I did actual riding. Probably covered 100 miles all weekend.

I got about 30 miles before it started sleeting while riding in Central Michigan on Saturday, I probably should have started earlier! The roads were dry until then.
Thanks for asking, I just finished 2 weeks off to go snowmobiling and the snow melts, Michigan weather, it just goes to show you.

We rode for about 2 hours on New Years day. All was going well until we had to call 911 for an ice fisherman who was too far out on Lake Winnebago when the wind turned to the West and pushed him and his ice chunk (can you say Yukon Cornelius) towards the middle of the lake.

Long story short, everyone is OK but when the Sheriff showed up, he kicked us off the ice, so it was back to the river, but we lost allot of valuable time!

I think I must have gotten in the last ride of 2003 in my part of the world about a week and a half ago on Saturday morning. I rode about 175 miles around the Hood Canal, in western Washington and was it ever cold! It was just barely above freezing and since then it's only gotten colder and the forecast for the next day or two looks even worse. Temperatures in the 20’s and lots of snow. Nobody is riding this week. It makes me appreciate the warm and dry winter we had last year and the heated clothing I was wearing.

My new Gerbings heated jacket liner and gloves are the absolute cats meow. They aren’t actually perfect but it sure felt good to be warm. I don’t mean that I just wasn’t cold, I was actually warm. Like, almost hot. How cool is that!

When the stuff was brand new I commented that there seemed to be lots and lots of wires hanging out of every place a wire could possibly hang out of and the gloves seemed overly bulky. Well, the wires are all still there, although once underway that isn’t much of an issue. I don’t know if I’m just getting used to the gloves or if the palm side padding is compressing, but they don’t seem as bad as when they were new.
And it feels really good to be actively warm! Now if the ice and snow would just go away so my tires could get some grip I would be a happy guy.

I put about 400 miles on the bike Friday and Saturday. It was cloudy, temps were in the 70's both days. I couldn't get off the bike...was glued to it I think!

Rode from Clarksville to Pelsor on 123 and then back down Highway 7 to Booger Holler ...bet Loki knows where that is...BTW...we need to meet sometime!

Loki,

I'm hauling the bike to LR sometime in the next few days for service...won't know exactly when till tomorrow when I talk to the service manager.

I think the wife is coming with me...going to hit a few stores and eat lunch while we're in the "big city." Oyster Bar....hmmmmm

If we don't hook up this week, I'll meet up with ya when you get back.

The cold air is dippin' pretty far south today...current temp is 22 degrees with wind chill of 13 degrees... lows getting close to zero and the wind chills going negative the next couple of nights. Sure glad I live in the south where it never gets cold.

Bad Weather Bikers....MY ASS!

Come on down. It's 62 in Orlando now. A chilly 59 in Daytona since the "cold" front moved in. It will be back into the low 70's this weekend. Last weekend it was in the high 70's.

If the weather doesn't break soon I'll have to throw the bike in a pickup after work on Friday and drive until I find sunshine. :)

I'm thinking 10-12 hours behind the wheel could put me in decent riding country for a Saturday and Sunday morning ride before making north for the house.
