I picked up a set of these mirrors a few weeks ago and am just now getting around to instaling them. Can someone that has them let me know how they installed one on the right handlebar? It binds up the throttle. Near as I can tell I'll have to trim/grind off the last 1/4" of grip to get the sleeve and grip flush with the end of the handlebar. Is this how ya gotta do it? Thanks! Jody, That's exactly what I had to do, trim the grip & throttle to clear. The clutch side is a little goofy because when the lever is pulled to the grip it hits the mirror mount. Hope this helps, DBird | ||

Yep, I had to trim down the throttle side. I played around with the angle on the clutch so the lever did not hit the mirror. | ||

Don't know exactly how those mirrors bolt up, but would it be possible to just slide the whole throttle/switch housing/brake caliper further in on the bars? That's what I had to do to get my Throttlemeister to fit properly. Henrik | ||

I made a spacer then glued the rubber to it, used a longer bolt. The spacer has a slot in it to key up with bar end. Works great. DAVE | ||

When I had them on the Blast I just moved the throttle assembly in about 1/4", like Henrik suggested (among other things, he's clairvoyant  ) Everything cleared fine after that. | ||

Henrik No room the bars on the 9 have indexing holes in them to locate the controls. DAVE | ||

The M2 also has the locating hole. I used a die grinder to oval the hole enough to slide the the throttle assembly toward the tripple clamp. That way both grips look the same with no binding. I also had to move the front master cylinder a bit extra toward the tripple clamp to keep the lever from hitting the mirror. I did the same with the clutch lever perch. Dave; thanks for clearing that up. I used to be very careful with locating holes and such - until I snapped the little peg off the housings on the SV. Just bolted everything back up with a bit of electrical tape to keep it snug. It's been on there for a couple of seasons now Henrik | ||

Excellent info fella's, Ido appreciate it. I believe what I'll do is fashion some spacer's at work to fit into the ends, that way I don't have to narrow the grip. I thought about moving the assembly inboard, but like mentioned earlier, there are locating holes for the switch assembly. Thanks again! Jody S. | ||

You don't need no stinkin' locater hole. Just knock the nipple off. You guys are making this way too hard. BTW, you'll love the mirrors. Major improvement. | ||

I cut a spacer out of the stock plastic bar end. It holds the mirror stem far enough away from the throttle so it doesn't bind. -Geof edited by geofg on September 26, 2003 | ||

FWIW, I also have the Napoleons on my XB. I moved the throttle housing inboard slightly to clear, no big deal, works great. Good mirrors. Timbo | ||

Mountain bike mirrors at about $7 each also work very well, and they are not nearly as expensive to replace if you hit something with them. Bob |
