Picked up the bike yesterday after having some brake work done. When I got home, I noticed that the bolt that secures the bottom of the oil tank was missing. This bolt also secures a wireform that holds the rear brake line in place. Here is a pic from my service manual. My dealer does not have a replacement and could not find my missing bolt in the tech's stall. I had planned to ride to Durango, CO this Thursday. Just a couple of questions . . . Anyone know if the missing bolt is the same size / length as the other bolts that secure the oil tank? I'm hoping I can remove one of them, take it to ACE hardware and get a matching one. If I can't find a replacement, opinions on whether I should cancel the ride? I'm leaning toward going anyway. The oil tank is secure and the rear brake line does not seem to have any play in it. Thanks for the help . . . Chris |

Take one of the other bolts out and try it in the first hole. If it works, head for the Home Depot. If doesn't work, go to the Home Depot anyway and buy four or five bolts that look like they might work. Happy hunting. |

Zip ties and hose clamps can sometimes do amazing things. |

All of the oil tank bolts are the same size. They are SAE bolts as well. Go to Ace and pick one up. 1/2 the bolts on my bike after the rebuild are Ace Grade 8. JT |
