Newfie, winter is over here, as well. I posted the above 'cause I finally figured out how to change the color and size of the type at the same time. When it comes to computer literacy, I'm almost to the "Hooked On Phonics" level. However, even though it's Spring!, the above message is always true. |

OK, bags are back together and working, and, with only 3 days of searching, I am the proud owner of EVERY tamperproof fastener tool known - all in one little box. I have a source if anyone else wants. While I was at it, and because I do so enjoy PAIN (not), I renewed the intake seals. On top of the tool(s) fabrication I expected, I also managed to break a Snap-On box wrench on the manifold bolts - 6-8 Lb/ft my lily white ever widening @ss, more like 90. Reinstalled with teflon lube and "guesstamated" 6 Lb/ft 'till I have time to do torque wrench w/crowsfoot conversion. Actually I don't even know if I can get a crowsfoot on all of them! But it seems to have helped. I spent MUCH time on parts cleaning and especially the install for best fit and alignment, just took up the bolts 1/2 a turn at a time while feeling in the manifold for the edge of the head(s). The dyno will tell - someday, as I think it MAY have changed my jetting needs. Appointment at 3PM to test ride the new 'Bolt - WOOO HOOO!!! Just got my "new format" electric bill in the mail... not meant as a reference to ANY other "new formating" Oz (Message edited by Oz666 on April 29, 2003) |

NEW MEDICAL ALERT Medical Officials are warning staff to be aware of a new medical condition found recently among staff. This condition is NOT related to SARS. It is known as Adult Respiratory Sensitivity Effect or ARSE. There are two classifications of the disorder. The first is characterized by symptoms of confusion, lack of interest and difficulty maintaining effort. This manifestation is called HALF-ARSE. The second manifestation known as ARSE-WHOLE involves individuals who are attention seekers, easily upset, confrontational and lack a sense of humour. If you have these symptoms and suspect either HALF-ARSE or ARSE-WHOLE please quarantine yourself for at least two weeks.

OK, Here is the predicament I am in. We have a policy on vacation time that is messing with my plans. I am working on an exception because otherwise my vacation will end up getting split between the Aug 20th anniversary and another shorter vacation which will not allow me enough time to escape the midwest on a motorcycle (a week + 2 days). My options are: 1. Quit work and ride for all of August. (not too feasible as the bills will still need to get paid!) 2. Go to Colorado near the end of July with some insane friends who are planning on doing 1000+ miles in a day (one HD and one BMW) (7 days to go to Colorado ; 20th for 2 days). 3. Try to ride out to Halifax the first few weeks of June to HOG rally (only 50+ hours each way, but I could take two consecutive weeks). Probably make little or no of the 20th. (Ride alone?) 4. Go to North Carolina via the Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina Smokies/ Appalachans first two weeks of July OR Fly to Carolina without the bike (for a week at the start of JULY) and ride bike to 20th. (Again split vacation). HUH? You say what? This is making me crazy... Anyone have any ideas?????????????????????? I can only carry over 40 hours past the July 15th date UNLESS an exception is made. This is driving me nuts. Already had to cancel the long trip for August!!!! |

Already had to cancel the long trip for August!!!! WHAT !!?? You can't cancel on Newfie !!! You can't do Halifax and ditch me on the 20th !! How about a week's trip to Arkansas, some GREAT roads down there, and I bet we can find a place to stay too !!!???? CJM |

Char for what its worth, the 20th in the grand scheme of things isnt that big of a deal as far as a riding destination would go. Outside of going to the factory & hitting a few of the roads there is nothing going on. If i didnt live in the area I wouldnt use any vacation time for it. Colorado is a great place to ride, lots of fantastic roads & scenery. Given the option its a no brainer..colorado wins hands down. Outside of hanging out at Hooters with spidey the 20th doesnt hold a lot of alure for me. Much more interested in the 500,000 or however many bikes that will be in Milwaukee the following week. Thats gonna be fun. |

Outside of going to the factory & hitting a few of the roads there is nothing going on. But the 20th is going to be a good opportunity to meet a LOT of other Buellers and hang out with them, which should be cool !! Colorado would be great, but depends on who you go with, alone would suck for me !! If your riding with a good group, I'd go for it too !! 500,000 or however many bikes that will be in Milwaukee the following week. Thats gonna be fun. YOU BET !!!!! I'm looking forward to it !! CJM

How much you wanna bet that all of the folks in our area...milwaukee that is..that are saying they are not looking forward & wont have anything to do with the 100th will be down there? Biggest goddamn bike rally in Milwaukee ever & Buell owners acting like they dont want any part of it..uh huh sure. It s a blast having the streets closed off just for bikes & watching the idiots on water street. |

Charlotte, How does your vacation plan work out precisely? Carryover is one thing, but do you "earn" vacation time on a pro-rated basis, or is it granted to you in one lump allocation to use at some point during the year prior to some anniversary date? Or do you only get 1-week per year and are trying to combine two years/weeks of vacation into one time slot? Take a week long vacation prior to July 15th, that is plenty of time to get out of the mid-west on a bike. Easy to get to the Black Hills or Colorado or Canada or the east coast and back in that time frame. Just some thoughts. |

Well, I will know for sure today... um er maybe. We earn roughly one day a month for vacation. What seems so appealing about Colorado IS the company... a couple of my two best guy friends who have been riding forever and seen me through some really tough times... what sucks is the 1000+ miles in one day on a Buell... of course I can drag off of the bagger or the beemer and I would not have to do it alone... any problems would be handled with them and we are CAMPING... YES CJ... I look forward to camping... and that is a big plus! So that is looking like the best option... I will somehow swing the 20th at least for Thursday and Friday... all I would really have to do is put in a few Sundays... no big deal. Newfie and I will hang out one way or another... we always have the Newfoundland in 04 trip planning to do (because Mikej insists!) Anyhow... I don't give a rat's ass about the 100th. August, sweaty smelly people and lots of drinking crowds and all of that... I would much rather go alone through Canada than sit in the city during the worst part of summer. So, Those are my thoughts, Keep you all posted. Charlotte |

Does Newf know he's now headed to Colorado a month earlier than planned? Starting to sound like you're planning a 30,000 mile year for your bike. |

poser chrome jockeys. So some guy that rides his bike from washington state & has 50,000+ miles on it is a poser but the buell guy who lives down the street with a 3 yr old bike with 1500 miles on it isnt??? I have seen a hell of lot more Harleys that get used on a daily basis & have 20,000-30,000-40,000 etc miles on em, than any Buells with that amount.

http://investor.harley-davidson.com/shipments.cfm?bmLocale=en_US HARLEY-DAVIDSON 2002 263,653 BUELL UNITS 10,943 263,653 / 10,493 = 25.13:1 With there being 25 Harleys to every Buell produced in 2002, and not counting a larger disparity in prior years, I would hope you see a lot more Harleys than Buells. ps, I'm not defending Spidey, I'm just between panic-tasks at work and had a moment to kill. Better to kill a moment than something else. August should be fun though, regardless.
