The 1125RR pipe is by FMF; they're available from FMF to anyone who wants to buy one in either stainless or Ti. The Ti version weighs 5 pounds less than the Buell factory race pipe. It works well on either a stock engine or the Superbike engine.

Isn't that the same as stock, two exhaust ports per cylinder?

Yes, I never knew that until I looked at an 1125, today !!

Great article. The AMA/DMG is full of clowns.

If this is true, I hope the AMA owns up to it being their "fault".

Read my recent post in the racing section. Watch the race tonight on Speed. Clowns don't put on events like this. AMA/DMG racing is spectacular; stop listening to the real clowns, who are journalists, and start watching some stunning competition.

That is why Mladin's comment "it's a purpose built race bike" pissed me off so much.

It's not like Erik wanted to build the RR from the start. He had no choice in the matter.
All he wanted to do was homologate some parts.

Although I must say I'm glad it turned out the way it did.

Thank you AMA Pro Racing for the birth of the 1125RR turn key race bike : )

Just read your post Anony.

That sheds a much better light on things, thank you : )

I can still thank AMA Pro for the RR though : )

And I still think Mladin is an ass. (immature of me I know but the guy just grates on me, sorry).

Mladin and Adams are a mutual admiration society. Can't deny Mladin's talent as a racer but to call Adams (Stuporbike Planet) a journalist is an obscenity.

Clowns don't put on events like this. AMA/DMG racing is spectacular; stop listening to the real clowns, who are journalists, and start watching some stunning competition.

The article in roadracingworld.com was not only written by a journalist but also by a competitor.

John Ulrich, Editor and Team Owner - Road Racing World and Team Hammer
John Ulrich has been a motorcycle road racer since 1973, won AFM and CMC 125cc Championships in 1975, co-rode to the WERA National Endurance Championship in 1983 and 1984 on a GS1100 and GS1150, won a WERA National Challenge Series
125cc Grand Prix Championship in 1996 on a RS125 and most recently won a road race in January of this year, riding a TZ250 at Willow Springs. In 1980, Ulrich founded Team Hammer, Inc., which currently races as M4 Suzuki and has been continuously competing longer than any other professional road racing team in U.S. history.

The original motorcycle was a steam driven single cylinder with wooden wheels and a leather belt drive.
Should we have stopped there?

If you know anything about human ingenuity it was way to simple to last.

Should we stop now?

I like Abrahms from the old days before the net when Cycle News was the only source out there. I must admit, I haven't read him much in the last 10 years, since the net news sources became so prevelant.

I believe His rants in the 90's helped force the AMA to open flat track to newer motorcycles than 15-year-old XR750s. AS the sport continued to die, he kept pointing out what a farce the equipment restrictions had become and why people might be losing interest. I think Abrahms is a real fan, and does not live in a vacuum as some might suggest. Like I said, things may have changed in the last 10 years since I read his race covererage and editorials in Cycle News, but he was spot on in the old days, and did help with the PR necessary to get the AMA out from under Harleys thumb in flat track.

I'd suggest the AMA has a 20-year track record of being full of clowns. I worked with one of their execs when he was at Kawi, and there is nobody I know more clownish and arrogant. He "retired" from Kawi (nobody I know believes he retired), then AMA put him in one of the top positions.

The new CEO finally fired a huge swath of the organization last year to clean house and outsourced more of the functions. The results don't seem to have improved yet. Idiots with pace cars at Daytona under AMA, and idiots with pace cars under DMG. AMA screwed up the race results by picking up the wrong lead bike, now DMG nearly killed people. They seem to not really get it.

I'll go with Kevin Cameron and Kevin Schwantz's opinions. Neither of them seems any more impressed with AMA/DMG than Mladin does. Anyone here believe that Kevin Cameron or Kevin Schwantz are clowns too? Are they in the pocket of Mladin like AMA and Adams?

This frustration with the AMA is real, not just rants of a few.

Ya think? Like Buell entered onto the scene? D'UH! C'mon dude. When his mommy and daddy were dominating road racing he had nothing to whine about. Apparently the rise of Buell in motorcycle road racing threatens the poor man and his sugar daddy, Japan Inc.

Schwantz? Quite beholding to Suzuki I'd say.

Ask Josh Hayes how he feels about the situation. Opposite of Mladin I'd guess.

Blake, it is very wrong to demean Schwantz like that, on pure speculation. He is a straight shooter, as is Cameron. Neither deserves their integrity questioned. Both have done a lot for the sport and been stand up people.

Instead of asking Hayes, I'd ask Hacking what it's like to come out of corners faster than Eslick, and then get passed on the straight. A couple months ago he made the mistake of saying it was a waste of time to pass the Buell in the corners because it would just come back and pass you in the straights. He's kept his mouth shut for a while, no reason to wonder why. Schwantz made it clear that if you open your mouth they find a way to suspend or penalize you the next weekend.

You must have been watching a different race than I or Jason Pridmore, and I guess you missed Danny's pass on bigmouth Hacking on the last lap. Then as he walked away in the twisty section.

I like Schwantz, but there is no mistake that he's staunchly in the Suzuki camp, always has been, always will be. He has his bias just like anyone.

I didn't question anyone's integrity. Just stated a fact. Please don't put words into my mouth Scott. That is uncool.

Watch it again Blake. Coming out of the Key Hole on to the last big straight, Hacking was balls out coming out of the corner, pulling real estate on Eslick. Then Eslilck catches up on power, and by the end of the straight, Eslick is right on Hacking's tail. A corner later he grabs a hand full of throttle, jams it inside Hacking, and throws Hacking totally off-line. Nothing wrong with that, it's racing. Still sucks for Hacking. Eslick should have been nowhere near the back of Hacking and in position for that pass. Hacking clearly got a superior drive onto the straight, but it did not matter one bit because Eslick has way more engine.

It would be interesting to see tech results of the podium winners after each race,Canada Superbike does it, why doesn't the AMA do it. Something tells me they would have a hard time explaining the results. There is enough info out there to know that the Buell has an advantage against the 600's. Most here think the Buell winning against the 600's is the greatest thing in motorcycle racing, hate to tell you that's not the majority opinion, look around at other motorcycle message boards and most see it a little different.

Watched that myself Spatten. Eslick did not catch up to him on the straight. He caught up to him going into the corner. Hacking slowed for the corner a bit to much and Eslick caught up to him there and passed him in that corner. Watch it again yourself.

I like the fact that everything was legal, fair, within the rules racing and Eslick won.

Cool.

Kevin is a great guy.
I've met him a few times while he was here at Road Atlanta.
And yes, he owes quite a bit to Suzuki, no doubt about it.
He's been on their pay role for many many years.
Also, he doesn't hide the fact either.
If it weren't for Suzuki...
I like the fact that everything was legal, fair, within the rules racing and Eslick won.
I'm with you Court!
GO BUELL RACING!!!
