So what is it with type and a board that people just get so riled up ? You would have thought that I stepped on their toe, or stole gas from their tank?

Posted on the local sport bike thread

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for a buffet
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' gonna go for seconds
Take a spoon and eat all the macncheese
Fill all my pockets with cocktail dogs
Hope they dont explode in place

I like smokey hickory rib samwiches
Heavy gravy smothered biscuits
Eatin' with both hands
And the feelin' that is indegestion
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the buffet with no prisoners
Eat all the hoursdesvours
And ask for more appetizers

Like a true gallopin gourmet
I will eat, eat to be filled
Get my glucose so high
I might even hafta die

Ride to be eating
Eat to be riding....

Posted because they would rather get together and eat at a pub than ride, but they are so fast to chide the Harley riders for doing the exact same thing. I guess sarcasm just doesnt come off in text.

There is A LOT lost in commuicating via computer. There are types that may be "sensitive" to it. And the fact that dry humor is completly lost in type.
I find the post fine.

Ride to eat.

I ride sometimes with a bunch of retired guys and eating is one of the big events of the day. Although we may ride 400 miles in a day and eat at a couple of different restaurants.

Woman without her man is nothing

Woman, without her man, is nothing

Woman: Without her, man is nothing

It's all perception.

I've been on a heep of fishing message boards in my day. Not one of them posted your real name like this one does, this site is tame in comparision to the ones where folks post anonamously.

Whenever people have a strong feeling (right or wrong) they're going to express it. If it gets stepped on harshly...E FIGHTS BEGIN!

Its just part of the web message board lifestyle.

The main difference here is that there is a high probability of meeting many of the folks here in real life.

Act in respect and use the smilies often.

Always leave yourself room to apologize.

i dont mind my name being on here. if someone has a problem with what i had to say, i dont want them to think i wouldnt have said it if they were right in front of me. it has caused a few problems over the years but no one ever has to wonder what my opinion of them is.

in person i am one of the most sarcastic people half my friends have ever met. but as stated it doesnt always transfer through the computer to well.

i say what i think when i think it, and the girlfriend says i always have something to say...

now on that note, i could tell you you are a worthless piece of crap in such a way that you probably wouldnt be offended and if i was really on my game you might buy me a drink, lol. i try to us a lot of tact to say what i feel, but not try to upset someone because that isnt always the point.

now plenty of times that gets thrown out the window and i will respond with literally whatever pops into my head in response to the drivel the other person just spouted in my direction. i have always been very proud of my ability to not usually ever be at a loss for words in any situation.

my ability to be quick witted has gotten me out of plenty of not very pretty situations simply from having a response to EVERYTHING.

my few close friends have figured out though that when i quit talking at all that means its a good time to start backing away. if i dont have anything to say that means the conversation is over one way or another.

The other one that got me in trouble locally. A parody of the Harley Screw It campaign. Apparently I offended a couple of people with the "damnit"

This forum over years,I've seen it bring out the very best in a person and the very worst in a person. I've gotten in some good arguements at times with various forum members. Then one day we meet and this has happened more the once. We find out that what we thought of that person is quite the opposite.

It's tough to "hear a smile" in a chat board. In person, on the phone...you can say totally derogatory things, and if the other person hears the smile in your voice it's OK. It's very tough to do that online.
