i love all those vids, but the "africa" stands out the most because it reminds me of my first real girlfriend and better times when being young meant just having fun and nothing else mattered.

I'm pretty sure I have every one of those songs on cassette somewhere. If not on cassette then it's on vinyl. That's a very good list by the way! (Message edited by Kyrocket on May 23, 2008)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydsuqDwaooc I thought this was a great/funny song when it first came out. I saw them at a local club just a month or two before the awful Station club fire. They show that video at all the conferences I attend it's rather disturbing. The fire video, not wasted rock ranger.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW_QCRGvT-g One of the best music vids of the 80s, ZZ Top, Sharp Dressed Man. My trouble is that I'm old enough to have been into retro stuff DURING the 80s. Also most of the 80s stuff I liked never made it to video either.

The 80's: when MTV had time in their programming day for actual music videos, before "reality" shows took over.

Right on Diablobrian, remember when MTV was cool and VH1 sucked? I'd much rather watch I love the 80's (in 3D or whatever reincarnation it is in now) as opposed to whatever psycho-reality MTV is showing.

Remember when your parents were shocked at how you would turn out because you watched MTV all the time. .... funny, i think it is now turning brains to pudding with no redeeming qualities (damn when did I get old) Put the flippin M back in the MTV. Where is that Billy Idol Commercial "I WANT MY MTV!"

I remember the 80's as being really dismal for popular music. The worst decade so far out of the 5 I've listened to music in. I really hate 80's music... almost all of it.

Djkaplan, Can I get an AAAAmen Brother! It was in the 80's that I gave up on rock/pop/popular music and switched to jazz/country and even talk radio. Anything was better than what was on the airways then. My sons is already giving up on the popular music of today. Caught him listen to an old Johnny Cash album last week.

Early 80's was my blue hair/punk/new wave days. Saw a lot of bands that later became famous, went to Mabuhay Gardens, The Temple, etc. I enjoyed music very much in those days. Middle 80's I was a regular at some local bars, followed some dance bands around, went out dancing pretty regular. I enjoyed music very much in those days. Late 80's got into funk at the black disco across the street from my office. I went there every single Friday night at 6:00 pm for the entire year of 1987, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I enjoyed music very much in those day.

Dang Boney, with that list of tunes you listed up there, no wonder you didn't get the 52 Vincent song in the motorcycle video thread. Serious bubblegum rock listed there. About the only bands I listened to in the 80's were ones from the 70's.......Zepplin, Floyd, Guthrie, yall get the picture.... 80's music really lacked something to me, i don't know maybe real musical instruments? Rush, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Metallica are about the only bands I "remember" from the 80's. A decade I'd just soon forget to remember to be honest.

What about "Legs" by ZZ Top? I loved that one. Perfect 80s video - take a regular working girl, add a new hairstyle, makeover, some accessories, and then all of a sudden she's hot and goes back and shows "the man" who's the real boss. Drives off in a hot car. What's more 80s than that?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNvOPN1LoQ4
