Ran across this while digging for the Ariel 2-wheeler: http://www.vectrix.com/portal/# Not a bad setup, though I didn't bother looking at price. The Jay Leno review was pretty good. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.s html?vid=224536 ~SM |

The Vectrix is sharp and it's attractive in that it looks like a regular ol' scoot. I ran across this last week. Keen rainy day capable trike http://www.tangotrikes.com/tango-car-media-news.ph p

you know all the electric bikes would be more interesting to me if they would maybe make it more like a motorcycle then a gay scooter. |

The vectrix is having a really tough year. They priced it way too high. I heard they have sold under a hundred of them, not the many thousands they expected. I have been looking for a basic electric scooter for sometime. Most of them are in the $2-2.5k range. The current problem is most have top speeds of 30mph, that would be on the flat with a slight tail wind. I need an honest 40mph flat speed. This will fit in nicely with my electric bike, and segway. |

Holy crap.... $12k is a little pricey, ain't it? I'm thinking $8.5k, max. Make it competitive with other maxi scooters, with the advantage of cheaper fuel. Niche marketing just won't hold up well in this economy, especially if your range is so limited you have to pre-plan your routes. I wonder how much recharge you could get out of a portable solar panel if you left it hooked up all day at work? I can't imagine the company agreeing to pick up my fuel tab on their power bill. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on April 24, 2008) |
