Has anyone had a problem with engine knocks or pings? I have a 00X1 and I get some engine knocks and pings when I hammer it (WFO). They don't last very long. I have always run 93 octane in it. Does your bike do this?
Thanks

Forgot to add that the bike is stock with under 3000 miles. Purchased new in December.
Thanks again
Carlos

Roll the throttle, don't whack it open!

In addition, it wouldn't hurt to check the ingnition timing to make sure it's set correctly.

Carlos,
What engine rpm is on the tach when you whack it open? Anything below 3,000rpm and you'll probably get knocking. Other rpm ranges will depend on what gear and speed you are in and at.

You're absolutely right. In fact SlackerBuell, I would recommend bringing part numbers with you whenever you need to order something that doesn't come stock on your bike.

Thanks for the recommendations on the race ecm. Planning on getting one next year along with a D&D pipe and K&N filter. Just wondering if the pings were the nature of the beast tho. Has the Race ecm cleared up you knocks? I guess its the lean tuning on the the factory setting.
Thanks again
