Woke up yesterday for the first time in 8 years and don't have a Buell in the garage. It's been another day now and I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. I've really enjoyed Buell and all the people I have met, it is just like a big family and I've been proud to be a part of it!
I just wanted to say thanks to all out there that lent me a helping hand in person and on the forum.
I replaced her with a '98 Sporty (insert jokes here, but no egging of my house
please) and will ride it for the next couple of years, if it lasts that long and then I'll get that SuperTT I want.
The CityX just wasn't cutting it with the 110 mile commute with all my books and all, plus you all know I needed to trade down to slide some cash in my pocket as well.
I hope you guys will let me stay around so I can throw up my 2 cents and ask the occasional Sporty question here and there.
Look for me in Daytona in a few weeks, I'll be the guy on the blue Sporty with Buell shirt on.

God bless all of you,
Ken

Blasterd, A ride is a ride, is a ride, is a ride! Doesn't matter what you ride we are all part of the same family when we are on two wheels. Please do not leave the Badweb site. Your profile picture needs to stay here!

I'd say that there is a fairly large contingent of "non-owners" on here.

Nothing says you have to leave or quit posting.

Nothing wrong with a Sportster. I was at the Chicago IMS this past weekend and saw that Harley-davidson brought back the "R" model this year with the new 5 gallon tang. Looks nice! I almost bought one several years back. They are still one of my favorite Harleys.

Not one damn thing wrong with riding a Harley Davidson, the pride of Milwaukee, ( or York, or whatever:-).

Been known to indulge m'self.

I have been trying to get Blake to start a Harley board on BadWeb, but so far, no luck. Anyone else interested?

Any Wisconsin iron is good iron, in this guy's book.

That's not to say I am not a Buelligan first and foremost.

Savy?

Put a Buell flyscreen on the XL. What year did you get?

I've learned that if you never wash the chrome the shine pretty much takes care of itself all on it's own and dulls down to a nice mellow muddy patina. A couple of plastic grocery bags flying in the wind getting stuck to the chrome headers pipes will add a bit of character to the overall appearance. ; )

A bike is a bike, that you ride is more important than what you ride.

I have brushed chrome with a fine 3M wheel, which takes the shine off it.

It also roughs it up if you want to take Glitches suggestion a hit it with the flat black.

Here is a chrome heel guard that was brushed with the 3M wheel.

A 3m scotch brite pad will take it to a dull sheen like Russell Mitchell does to his sexy bikes.

Oh please dear God, no. If someone want to talk about chaps, chrome or their "God given right to run loud pipes", they can go to HDForums.

That said, I'd be willing to chip in some $$$ to upgrade Badweb's software to something a little more navigational friendly.

Apologies for the thread hijack.

That's the problem, Jam.

It would be nice to discuss one's Harley with other brothers who share the Buell perspective on things, instead of the Chaps and Chrome crowd.

The HD forums are not my cup of tea, at all.

I believe that there a quite a few Harley riders, past and present, on these boards, with a great deal of knowledge to share.

Of course if the very idea of Harleys offends you, ( perhaps I was like that at one time:-), then you can go to any one of the many other great threads on Bad Web.

8. Knuckleheads: For Harley riders

9.Flames: Harley talk

10.The Wild Ones: Harley enthusiasts

11. Hog Heaven

12. DynaMight

13. Geezer Glides

14. Kings of the Road

I've owned 6 late model Harleys - including my current '08 Low Rider - and have been an active participant (and $ contributor) on the HD forum for several years. I guess I'm just skeptical that we'll see any discussions that haven't already been beat to death on the other Harley forums. But that said, I've always been impressed with the diversity and wide range of riding experience on the BadWeb so I'll (try to) keep an open mind.

(I like Harley's bikes but I don't buy into the whole "lifestyle" or "brotherhood" bullsh*t.)

Wasn't this recommended about a MILLION years ago?

To go with G-Jon's idea, I like The Hog Pen.
Then there could be sub-catagories like there is for the Buells.

If I knew how to do anything and had ANY spare time, I would help as well.

Harleys brought me to Buell. Different hammer for a different job. I would never do the things I do on my CityX with my Sportster. I will not be thinning my garage any, just add to ;)

Blasterd,
Sportsters are cool. Check this place out:
http://quadcambastards.com
There are some Buell-destroying chuckleheads there (throwbacks who haven't figured out that Buells are the logical evolution of the original '57 "sport" Harley), but also lots of cool Sporty customizers makin' really awesome machines. "Kickin' Big Twin ass since 1957".

A hog pen is called a pigsty.

Don't they have their own site?
Keep this for Buells.
We could be overrun by the horde.

I think sportsters are cool. the new sportsters look great. I think HD has done a good job with all of the new sportster models. the large tank one is really fairly comfortable. I love the new nightster also. REX
