Why on God's green earth would anyone who could afford to drive an Escalade show up to a homeless dinner?

It just has the sound of an urban legend... one of those things people heard from someone who heard it from someone.

I don't care where you live, if you are unemployed, your $60,000.00 SUV and your $2,500.00 Lois Vuitton purse wasn't paid for with food stamps. It was paid for with drug money or pimping (unless you're a Hilton or Kardashian etc.)

I don't even have a problem with the idea of p*ss testing people who receive general assistance. I would love to see a system where you show you are steadily working toward getting your life together and you can get your check, and if you fail the p*ss test, you get a chunk of government cheese and a sleeping bag.

I know it's simplistic and impractical for at least dozen reasons, but the look on the face of the person who failed the test and got the cheese/sleeping bag deal......?

PRICELESS!

I think telling a majority of apathetic, self centered Americans that they can't vote wouldn't phase them at all. They just want their (our) cash.........

Yes, but politicians lobby to low income/people on government assistance because if you're on welfare/government housing, who cares about an income or property tax hike? You're not paying taxes on either...

You take away the right to vote since you're not paying taxes and it would keep the worker's taxes more reasonable if the raises aren't approved by people living on tax payer paychecks.

Just think soon there will be another government (UN) taking you money but this time the welfare recipients will be third world nations, as if we don't provide enough foreign relief dollars. One good thing is the devaluation of the dollar means they get less. The other side of that coin is our taxes will be raise to compensate. Doesn't this belong somewhere else?

FYI-

In parts of town where I used to live (areas of the San Fernando Valley) there were indeed mercedes driving food stamp wielding folk.

This is probably not of the variety of folk you think, though. Closer to me in terms of ethnicity and / or country of origin.

It exists. Dunno that it's our biggest problem in the country. Don't know that it's even in the top 1000. But I've seen it firsthand.

I have seen the luxury car and foodstamp thing firsthand as well. You take a second look and think, WTF!!!!!
But most of the times those cars are paid for by there "night jobs" whatever illegal job it might be (drugs/hooker/etc.)
I had a neighbor in dallas once who turned out to be a hooker. I knew she sold pot, and wasnt too concerned with dope, but after she got arrested I was told she sold all the hardcore stuff and was a hooker at night, she had a nice benz and a caddy limo. No one ever drove her in it, she just used it for her nightly needs i guess??
what was really sad was she had 2 little girls, like an 8 y.o and a 2 y.o
she had a day job, and I guess i just thought that paid for her cars and what not. but she too was on food stamps and the gov. was paying her full rent on my dime. In this case, i think the piss test would have helped out. But still feel bad for the kiddos!
Personally I think piss test should be in place as well as mandatory birth control for anyone who can't get there own life in order. (male and female) have them take the shot before they can get there check, if they pass the pisser test :-)

We did approx. 45 to 50 rehab/rewires last year on low income/section 8 housing. I saw a lot 1st hand(6 months in the hood). About half way through the project it was very clear to me that we as tax payers are being taken advantage of in a very big way!(huge)

I`m working my butt off trying not only to provide an income for my household but also to keep my company in biz. Also I`m watching first hand the huge amounts of $,$$$,$$$`s being dumped into these places.

Some of the things that piss me off about not all but most of the people living in these homes is that nearly their entire cost of living is paid for by hard working tax payers. (housing, health, food, education, etc, etc..) Most everyone believes that it is their God given right to have the govt. pay for everything. It is expected and considered normal. It`s kinda weird when you see all of these "poor" people with their $200 cell phone 50" plasma connected to a sat. dish, $250 sneakers, $400 coat, bag of weed laying out for the kids to get into, $500 car with $1k stereo and $2k wheels,(I could go on for quite some time on this). My point is that they are living "better" than working familys in other parts of town who do not receive govt. help.

Not only do they get so much help from the Govt. but some even help themselves by stealing tools and equip. from those of us who are helping them in the 1st place.(It was really crazy some weeks)

When will it stop? (never)
When will it be enough?? (never if you listen to a Dem. or a Lib.)
When will the Dem. Lib. freaks stop telling me that I have to pay more? (geesh I pay a lot already)

We as a society should help those in need but also should identify where need ends and stupid starts. People who can`t even help themselves shouldn`t be having kids that they can`t feed or shelter. Help should be for weeks, months, and maybe possibly years, not generations!!

What ever happened to "If you want something you`d better earn it".
I think it got changed to "If you want something just ask for it and Uncle Sam will give it to you".

Let's be clear about this.... race, ethnicity, has nothing to do with this.
It's the socialist bread & circus.

I've argued on this site with folk who insisted that rich people don't deserve to pass on their wealth. It's hatred & class envy. ( the basis of marxist revolution ) Though he allowed that I could give my daughter my Cyclone, when I died. Nice to know I get some say over the sweat of my brow.

The attitude that says "you owe me Mr. Government man" is sister to "you are slave subjects of the all powerful state"

The check's in the mail. I'll respect you in the morning. I'm from the government & I'm here to help you.

You know, the 3 lies.
