I got this from a friend..... Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ASS, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though . . . Something has to change in this country -- and soon! So What cha think? |

Great IDEA provided, the test takes into account that some of the folks getting that check, have to take various meds due to injury or illness, Sadly due to the general lack of competence by the governemt and its agents, there would likely be issues. |

I agree but I think they should have to take a blood test as they are much harder to fool. When you have all day to sit around and study out how to pass, the urine test is an easy one to get around. I don't have a good solution to the welfare problem but its snowing outside here, give them a shovel and clear the sidewalks, maintain city, county, state property. Make these people work of the check instead of just giving it to them. If I was to loose my job tomorrow I would have to go find another one, where did they get out of that loop. |

You are darn straight they should have to pass a whiz quiz! I am tired of driving by the free clinic to see a Half Million dollars worth of Escalades, or the retard with a Lois Vitton purse paying with Fkin food stamps and getting into a S500 when they leave. |

Wouldn't illness or injury be covered under Social Security not welfare?? |

If they handed out .38 specials with every welfare check the problem would almost take care of itself within the first month.... |

They don't need no stinking piss test. Buddy of mine has a shop in South Central LA and he has people pissing and shitting on the sidewalks. He is in a "disadvantaged" area (tax breaks but YUCK!) - half a block from the welfare office. If anything could change your views on folks, it'd be working in that shop for a week! I personally think revolution is going to be the only way anything will ever change. Eminent domain, unsecured borders, illegals, lobbyists, special interest groups, criminals having more rights than law abiding citizens, etc. At some point the American people have to stand up and change this country before it goes down the tubes. I'm in the middle of Glen Beck's book "An Inconvenient Book". Pretty good so far. It amazing what the citizens will believe if they read it or see it on the "mind bending box" (tv). Apathy is going to kill us all eventually. If we are stupid enough to think our country and way of life can't fall we get what we deserve........ Old joke- General asks a private a question, private just has a dumb look on his face, General says "Son are you just plain ignorant or are you apathetic?" Private says "Sir, I don't know and I don't care!" |

another thought Who pays for the test??? who pays for administering it, I am tired of driving by the free clinic to see a Half Million dollars worth of Escalades, or the retard with a Lois Vitton purse paying with Fkin food stamps and getting into a S500 Makes you wonder.. perhaps a simple flat tax [to help with savings] limited time un-employment, or provable permenant disability? shoveling snow, sh!t or any thing else productive, + 2, |

Wolf, the .38 isn't a bad idea here on the West Side. What irritated me in school were the kids whos parent/s didn't work had Starter jackets because my parents paid for them... I'm all for mandatory castration |

Come on guys, we all know that there would be a tax increase for some third party to come in and administer it. Maybe if we are lucky they will raise the price of smokes another dollar a pack to compensate for it. Besides, who ever payed for their weed and cocaine with food stamps... On a more serious note, yes you bring up valid points, but try turning it into a grassroots movement by lobbying at your capitol or congressional office unfortunately probably wouldn't get you very far. I think we all honestly have better odds at winning the lottery. Yes I know it is my attitude that plays part in this problem, but seriously I don't have enough money to have influence over any politician. (Message edited by chrisrogers3 on December 13, 2007) |

This country is ran by special interest groups who do have the $$$$ to influence the people that make the rules. Unfortunately money makes the world go 'round these days. Sort of makes me sick when I really think about it...... |

"I am tired of driving by the free clinic to see a Half Million dollars worth of Escalades, or the retard with a Lois Vuitton purse paying with Fkin food stamps and getting into a S500" Seriously...... Make a list of all the times you have seen 8-10 Escalades at the free clinic or someone with a Lois Vuitton purse and an S500 paying with food stamps... There are tons of problems with welfare, but free clinic parking lots filled with Cadillacs and Lois Vuitton purses stuffed full of food stamps are a figment of your imagination. |

A better view of the stats above would be a chart with the breakdown of the percentages of the US population by race, color, creed, ethnicity, whatever you call it these days.......then apply the above numbers...... |

This is not my imagination... Try moving to the Metro Atl area and tell me what you see, Green Bay is a long way from the ATL and things are very different here. It is easy to spend money when you dont have to pay for food, get a break on your housing, and get a check every month to sell dope from your house. I see this every day. |

If that info is in fact true New12R (never been to GA to see it myself) I'd be curious to see what percentage of the above data in your area has drug related offenses attached to it Certainly an interesting number to consider. An even better bit of info to hold against someone applying for welfare. |

We have an area in the city I live in (Columbus, Georgia) that has a number of Habitat for Humanity homes in the community. These homes are supposed to be for families struggling to keep above the poverty level and give them a decent base to lift themselves out of the muck. They may not be driving their Escalades and Jaguars(!) to any welfare offices, but there are certainly a higher proportion of them in the driveways than in the middle class neighborhood where my parents raised their kids and continue to live. If you're poor and getting help from the government, I think your character has a direct bearing on what kind of car you choose to acquire. I can remember riding around in quite a few jalopies growing up... the money my parents saved help keep all of us out of the poor house. |

I will admit that I stretched the numbers, but I do see this stuff daily. Ever since the cluster homes were built in my neck of the woods the number of people in the store paying with food stamps has increased by a large percentage, then they go get in their BMW's, Escalades, Mercedes, and all of them got 22" chrome rims. I have used the free clinic, I also cannot afford ins. I pulled up in a beat up 88 Honda Civic, while every other car was at least 2000 model year or newer with rims. One of them was Brand new mustang, custom paint, blower(cannot mistake that whine) Drag radials, rims, racing seats, five point harness etc....That to me is ABUSE. I can also tell ya from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE, lots of folks in the "system" sell dope. |

Before there was Food Stamps, there was the Commodity Groceries program, I got these when I was little ("government cheese".) Cheapest thing would be for the government to just issue them drugs ! Confiscate them at the border, issue them to the inner cities. Cut down on crime a lot... |

Bill0351 that is no joke. You should come down here for Thanksgiving and see all the jokers that show up at the annual homeless dinner driving Escalades! If that test was implemented it would pay for its self by the billions. What's an $80.00 piss test, or whatever it costs, compared to hundreds of dollars a month, times whatever number of years that these losers milk the system? |

Welfare ( which is different since Clinton's admin ) really does not pay well enough for high living, despite the cliches. It's not middle class. The old joke about the most important thing to a welfare dude being MCP ( my Cadillac payment ) has a perverted hint of truth to it though. If you did not have to care about your rent, food, or children, you could buy a nice car. That's true for high school kids too, you will note. I'm against mandatory drug testing as a requirement for public assistance. I would suggest that the franchise be limited to those not dependent on the public trough. You go on welfare, you don't vote. You get a job, you can. It's not THE solution, but it would change the bread & circus's attitude of the politicians. I would not count food stamps or educational assistance as the dole, SSI & Medi-care either. The percentage of people that WILL not work is actually low, you just notice them. ( and if you DO work for a living, and since you are posting at a Buell owners fan site, You should be, it might torque you a bit. ) Those that CAN'T, you might have different feelings about. I do know professional victim's. You can usually tell them, since it's not their fault, for anything. Don't waste your emotions on them. It's not worth it. |

"I'm more concerned how my money is spent on these wars." I would say that statement is felt world wide. Its amazing how so many billions have been spent but our brothers and sisters are still short on gear their lives depend on. Obviously theres more to fund than just gear but if they have to be there, then they should be loaded with what they need which wasn't the initial priority...speaking from personal experience, not just opinion. Back to the original topic-anyone who's scoring/selling dope/drugs and expects the rest of the country to fund them can get they're "assisted living" in prison. |
