I just got the new edition of Cycle World.
It features the newest Sportster, anyone see it? Looks like a winner!

I'm wondering if most of them will be chromed, lowered, and tassled to death by their owners. That's what happens when you sell a lifestyle and not a product - you can't sell anything else or break out of that mould.

I hope it's a success for the Company, but I can't see it doing anything better than a 4 year old tube framer... except being a Harley.

still, there are likley enough folks out there who'll want one to make it a paying proposition

I'm actually waiting to see what the price tag will be on this one... and what 'cafe' style aftermarket accessories will be available ... It may make it so I don't have to build one.

Love the XR1200, but Buell just shot me in the heart with the XB TT.

Ergo wise the XR1200 will do just what I want, but the TT is causing major indecision.

A TT with Uly bar to seat dimensions would sway me. However, I still love to see more engine and that sends me back to the XR1200.

Damn, I wish I could afford both.

Both are nice bikes but I'd be swayed more towards the XR1200 at this point.

I'd take an XR1200 over a tarted up XBTT... just on looks alone.

I bet the XR is about 75lbs heavier than an XB, though.

I must have been MIA when all the XR posts were posted, but my first thought was "M2!!!"

On second thought, I like my M2 and doubt if the XR would match it for performance

The XR looks sporty, but whats up with those pipes?

I like but don't get the idea behind the XBTT, is it supposed to be a track bike?

Silas...If your M2 is keeping up with the newest XB1200 engines then you should be fine from a performance perspective.

As the XR1200 has a tube frame, it will be a good handler but probably not as precise as the XB series frames. I don't know where your M2 fits into the frame flex issue as I owned an X1 and loved it.

Bottom line for me is if the XR1200 handles and performs as well as my X1 I'll be one of the first in Milwaukee to own one compliments of the style and ergos.

After that I will be going for the XBSTT as I really like the market niche that it fits in.

The way I perceive the TT is that it is Buell's entry into the big bore motard niche. KTM and Ducati already have their entrants and I perceive it best for Buell to get a foothold in the niche before the Japs do.

Go on Buell's website and compare the dimensions and the primary gear ratio to an XB12S, XB12SS and an ULY and you will note differences that should effect the handling of this bike.

In reference to being an out of-the-box track bike, I would venture to say no. But it should be one helluva big bore street moto.

The primary reason I said "no" is that it is using the lightweight street wheels and I am not sure if they will work on either a TT or supermoto track. However, this is easily remedied with different wheels with a set of track tires mounted on them.

Concerning the engine and drive train a few tweaks should get them up to track specs for supermoto as that is pretty much a torque sport.

Will there be a large bore twins supermoto class. I should think the possibility will increase directly proportionate to the number of street bikes available to compete.

Flashing back on all the great press that KTM and Ducati have received I think that this venue will happen and that the Japanese will be in it as well.

Going back to the pipes on the XR1200, they are a civilized approach to dirt track pipes. They are somewhere between the TT pipes and the flat track pipes. They provide ground clearance and have the upswept mufflers as to not interfere with your lean angles on the street.

Regardless what pipes and tail section HD puts on the XR1200, the aftermarket will provide us with options. However, the part that really impresses me is that they really did use the Buell engine and other Buell tweaks.

Styling and performance were the reasons HD failed in the past with their street trackers and, even as is, the XR1200 is their best effort ever and I think it, as well as the XBSTT, are Winners.

I meant to say that my M2 would perhaps match the XR1200 Sportster for performance [handling, acceleration, the whole package]but would not match the XB!!!

Anyway, I think owning either the XR, XB or any Sportster based bike is better than owning any other bike, but I gotta admit that the handling of my tuber, just the riding position, has opened my eyes to the virtues of all kinds of bikes [even bikes like the SV Suzuki's]...I especially like those SPEED TRIPLES. The "naked bike" idea is ALL I ever wanted, and tried to "build" with various HD's for my entire riding career [30+ years]

I really don't know much about other makes, but I know that I am addicted to torque, so I imagine I will continue own a Sportster-based product.

Ahhh....Torque! That's my adrenaline.

XR vs XB, don't know what the end result will be yet. Will have to wait for test results. However, I feel it is safe to assume that both will be entirely acceptable.

Had my Hi-Revver's but just love mid range torque. Is so easy to work in the twisties and I could care less about the sprint to the next turn.

I like it. I wouldn't (read CAN'T) buy one, but I do like it. I don't like it as much as my S3, however it is a good attempt by HD.

I will still be keeping my Blue baby...and still be one of the only Buell riders in town (I THINK there are 2 others).

As a wise man once told me..."Anything you have that is paid for is worth having!"

His point was it satisfied you when you bought it, it continues to satisfy as long as you maintain and care for it and, it is one helluva lot more affordable than a new one.

Pretty wise guy as he accumulated a nice nest egg, while having all the toys and never really denying himself throughout life.

Probably one of the reasons I should have kept my X1.

Ahhh, just went for a cold weather late night putt, and indeed, the M2 still satisfies. Just bundle up and go!

I'd have to say, untill the Uly, the XB series did not appeal to me at all, just too small, too short. But this TT thingy, I can't wait to ride one!

Although with 600 miles on my topend rebuild, and 10,000 mi on my racetech front end, I am pretty darn happy with the ol' gal!

Kind of fell in love with her all over again this year!
