I just picked up a 99 Sw1..the stock seat sucks,,anyone have a Corbin,,or any other aftermarket seat that is confortable?..Is the Corbin worth the $350? thanks

Corbin, like other vendors, offers great products, that fit almost all the time

their customer support doesn't -- many will not do business with them on that account

my advice is to find someone with you rmodel bike, eyeball the fit closely (your's will not be any better), and try the seat

I have a Corbin for a S1 that is in like new cond that I'm going to list up for sale. $150

I'm real skinny and it doesn't fit me that great. Thought I would pass it along if you were interested.

I have a Corbin on my 2000 M2 and really like it. I ordered one for my S3T a few weeks ago from Al. He's expecting about 6 weeks delivery and the price was $229.

I also have one on an M2, the deluxe "gunfighter etc." that costs 600+ ... It is pretty hard, although supposedly there is gel in it. Although the contour is more comfortable than the stock seat, also the grip... it doesn't slide me around. So... overall it's a more comfortable riding position, tho I feel the little bumps more.

It does creak though, and it's higher than the stock seat. I only hear the creaking when I get on or off it... keeps the gapers at bay. Anyay, I kept the Corbin and sold the original one. If you can, try to find one used, that way if you don't like it, you can sell it without losing much.

Hey.
Got my Corbin just 2 weeks ago from American Sport Bike It was $229, I believe.
So fare, I'm happy with the look and riding comfort of my Corbin seat.
The workmanship is poor.
I expected the seats quality closer to perfection.Corbin is such a renowned company!
I think Corbin lost some quality during the last years.
My Gunfighter Sporty seat,bought in 2000,has a much better finish.

Ummm, Ther is no such thing a a 99S1.
Me thinks you me 98 right?

I bought a used Corbin for my son's S2, it is better than the stocker in my opinion.

Really happy with the Corbin for my S3T. It did take a couple of thousand miles to get totally broken in however. Now, with 10,000 or so miles on the saddle, it's the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever ridden on.

That info would be a seirous difference..

IF you have an S1..yes, the Corbin will do your butt good....

IF you have an X1..well...not too sure, never used the corbin, I dont liek the way it looks.. I prefer the ProSeries seat..

is the tail real short? or is it raw aluminium holding the seat???

The REAL truth:
Corbin seats never break in, your *arse just gets used to it (and besides, who's going to admit to paying big bucks for a POS).
The hinnie hardness scale, softest to hardest:
1. Massive sheepskin cover.
2. Gel pad.
3. Stock seat.
4. Wooden bench.
5. Concrete curb.
6. Frame with seat removed.
7. Armco barrier
8. Corbin seat.

I bought a used corbin gun fighter with attachable backrest. Great for two up riding. but for solo I prefer my stock x-1 seat. The corbin is rock hard,like the stocker. It is wider than the stock seat. instead of my balls hitting the tank during a fast stop, my prostate seems to take a beating. It is a little wider than the stock seat so I seem to sit higher and I tend to slide around more. They don't break in, your butt does. It seems to be a trade off.

I am so happy to be reading this thread, I was about ready to order a Corbin to make my bike more comfy...

Al, you forgot a Shaker chair. With features like a forward leaning backrest and downtilting seat that requires muscle tension to sit on they are the perfect fit for a flagelist. Here in Philly we have a lot of them, thankfully they are antique and we are not allowed to actually sit on them. Pain=salvation.

I bought one, spent two weeks trying to get the damn thing to fit right, scratched the crap out of my fairing from the rivets holding the leather to the pan, and then returned it. How can anyone spend $250-300 for a 'custom' made seat that you then have to modify to make fit? That doesn't sound very custom made per application to me.
I liked that it kept me in place better than the stock slip-n-slide, but I didn't have it long enough to see if my arse would get used to hardness of it.

My '91 RS has the stock Corbin on it, it's just about "broke in". Still a little hard, though.

I have the corbin on the X1, replacing the "nut crusher" stock seat. The corbin is definitely more comfortable on long hauls. The stock seat is easier to move side to side on.

I put in a 970 mile day on the stock seat in 2002 and a 925 mile day earlier this month. Again the corbin worked much better for the long haul.


The corbin reminds me of a horse saddle, its comfortable, but firm. Also its wider so it makes the bike a bit more to handle in parking lots and such.

Wear wise the corbin isn't holding up as well as the stock seat. The leather is starting to wear away at the front corners where the seat meets the tank. I ride around 8k a year and I've had the corbin for 3 yrs (at least I think)

I've always wanted to try the pro series (which is a travelcade IIRC), but never seemed to find one for what I was willing to spend

I just put a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady seat on my 2000 S3T. The seating area is longer and I sit somewhere in the middle rather than back against the backrest area. The room to move fore and aft while riding is actually welcome on 500 mile days. The seat feels very hard initially. I just did back to back 500 mile days and did not get sore spots like I did with the stock seat. Also my nuts did not go numb on the Corbin like they did on the stock seat. The bad first impression has changed to one of approval after a 1000 mile weekend. By the way did anyone mention the corbin weighs about 50 pounds.

I have corbin seats on my S1WL and one of my S2's.
I doubt I will put another on any of my bikes. In my opinion they suck and are not worth the money.
I'd rather ride on the frame rails...
