I've been offered a pretty ratty 96 S1 for $1000, no title & back reg fees due. It'd take more time/$ to make it as nice as my 97 S1W (love it!) than it'd be worth afterwards. It starts and sounds good, has the PM wheels that would look nice on my S1W. Could the motor be worth $1000 by itself? Thinking this bike should be a donor so that other S1's can live. It's in the SF Bay Area of CA. Opinions? |

My $.02, if it doesn't have a salvage title, and the engine's not shot, it shouldn't be parted out. But if you don't buy it, someone else will turn it into chopper parts. So... |

Find someone outside of CA, flip it through them to clear the CA back fees. |

Noticeable was that the shock had been replaced by a steel bar (?!), tank wasn't dented but it's pretty crappy paint, side stand, rear fender, turn signals, belt guard, foot pegs all missing. Choke knob broken off, leaving just the cable. Loud. "couldn't find" title or reg paperwork, plate was good until August 2018. Said he'd bought it from some kid in Sacramento for $800. CRG levers. Thinking about swapping the PM wheels with mine and trying to get my $1000 back in the spring. |

Did you build your S1W? They were only produced in 1998... |

Doh! You are correct, mine is a 98. Still love it! Except for the monster bubbles in the tank paint... |

Agreed with sellers offer of $1000, was on my way to pick it up when seller texted that he sold it to someone else. Oh well. |
