Hey everyone I have a 99 X1 lightning and the turning signals have been working off and on lately. Was thinking it might be a ground issue. However I am not sure where the ground is. Also any other input could be helpful.

Make sure that the wiring from the control gas not been pinched by turning the triples

Has, not gas

You will probably find your enemy under the seat.
Either the flasher unit (says Gilera on it)
Or the fuse box.
On the X1 bikes, it seems like the fusebox is well protected but isn't.
The connections are out in the breeze underneath and corrode after a while.

Even if it isn't your problem today, I suggest you take each fuse out, clean them and spritz some WD40 on the contacts.

The flashers themselves seem pretty reliable but the black plastic housing gets eaten by vibes after a while.

My first choice would be a flasher that is going bad. As to your question, the wiring diagram for my '01 shows 2 grounds, but not where they are.

The black wire from the flasher shares a ground with the rear signals. The front signals share a ground with several other appliances.

The check would be to unplug the flasher and each of the signals and confirm that each black wire is connected to ground.

Hope this helps, Dave

I've had the flasher unit of my X1 (under the seat) come partially unplugged and was causing some issues – I just pushed them back together and things worked as expected.

Has anyone come up with a cross reference for that flasher unit?

Bikes been running great since I fixed the flasher and metal tang issue I made from adding a strap. Loving the oberon signals. I think it is the flasher to. Double check the wires to the flasher. Then the bullet connectors for the signal lights. After that it's probably inside the flasher that's broken.

Ok so the fuse box looks fine, and no wires seemed pinch at the the triple tree.

I had my flasher connector come loose near the left of the triple trees. Just barely loose though. I pulled it apart and put it back together and all was well again.

Did you get it fixed? Was thinking what if it was a bulb inside one of the signals?
