Ok, so I didn't do my best storing the old bike over winter but the sludge and green crap that lives inside carbs that have old ethanol gas is gross. Finally getting around to getting my other "tuber" running since the M2 is so wonderful in every way. And by the way, thanks to everyone who has helped by sharing "how to" and "what this looks like"

So one of the better things about a trident is the way they sound. Triples have a unique note to themselves. However, now that I have the Buell, I will probably be very conflicted about which sounds better. I have been really enjoying all the finer points of the Cyclone. The Triumph always handled great but the Buell is what I would consider a Road Straightener. : )

In Australia, we just have one ethanol it has 10% called E10 but have unload 91octane no ethanol 95 octane no ethanol 98 octane no E
don't you get a choice?

Lakes - most gas here is E10 but there are a number of stations that sell non-oxy gas.

As for the Trident, I know they aren't for everyone but since I bought it new in '73, I'm pretty used to the various stuff that comes with old British bikes. I had a '69 twin back in the day and there was a time when I used to re-wire old Triumphs for fun and beer.

That's a '73? With the shifter on the right?
I had a '70 that never ran right, I wound up taking its front end for the disc brake and grafting it onto my '68 Bonneville.

I think that shifters changed to the left side in 1975. The Triumphs had big changes that year. I was looking at the disk on the Trident and the M2. The back disk on the Buell is about the same size as the front on the Triumph. : (

I also have an M2 and an old Triumph but mine is a '79 t140D. I have lusted after a '75 t160 for several years. The old Triumphs do require up keep but can be quite reliable for a vintage bike. My Triumph has been well looked after and its original Lucas Rita ignition and harness is still performing great.

I always run supreme gas in my bikes, snowmobiles, etc as it is the only grade here with zero ethanol.

Outdoors-Glad you have had such good fortune with your bikes. I installed my Rita ignition a LONG time ago and have never had any issues with it. I guess that after so many years with the same bike, you get to know what is going on with it. As for me, I'm getting to know what the M2 has to say to me. I just enjoy old bikes : )

M2owner the Trident are a nice Bike, & if you know your way around electric's, even better.
a good friend of mine loved them he had two one was a ledgend hand built buy a guy named Les William's .
his dream bike was Slippery Sam.
but i've always had Harleys they were far from perfect .
your bike looks great!

Lakes - I've never had Harleys so this is a great learning experience for me. The sportster engine has a few idiosyncrasies to it and the whole Buell thing is a lot to take in as well. Thanks for the kind words about the Trident. Stock looks pretty good after 40 years or so : ) My M2 is pretty stock and I don't have plans to change that any time soon.
