that's what everyone says but when ever I turn it counter clock wise it falls out, and when its clockwise turn it lock in but both ends on the buld illuminate, I switch the 2 wires on the light assembly and that did the trick, I wonder if the previous owner did that, cause the light bulb in their all it said was made in Italy no part number just that it said 12 volts that was it. is working fine now though |

Rotate the bulb about 180° before inserting it into the housing and then try installing it (clockwise). If it still illuminates both filaments, it's one switch or the other. Rear switch is more apt to fail based on history. HTH, 1313 |

While the bulb is out, take your voltmeter or test lamp and check both terminals inside the bulb retaining socket. If only one has current with the key "on" and both filaments still light up, the phenolic plate that holds them in the socket has twisted. If both have power, your brake light circuit has an issue. If the power to the brake light circuit doesn't go out when you turn the key to the "taillight only" position, your tail and brake light wires are shorted to each other. First thing to do is get another bulb. The new bulb itself may be defective. |
