Just looking at ordering some isolators for future use. I have seen mention of using the updated rear isolators. Some have said you need to grind the tab off of them, is this correct and also the only thing that needs to be done. I haven't looked closely or had the S2 apart to see what may cause a clearance issue with the updated isolators.

I installed a set of the latest style thick Isolators in an S2 (Gloria) before I read the part about them not fitting an S2.

They fit fine, and no grinding was involved. The tab didn't interfere with anything. I don;t know why they just bolted up on this one and someone else had problems, but I will chalk it up to "S2s are different".

On my S3 which also got the new ISOs I did have to clearance the sprocket cover to clear the thicker ISOs, but I did not need to grind the tab on those, either.

Whenever you are installing these new isolators in any tuber - measure the index pin depth. According to the instructions for that kit, the pin should be no more than . 120" long as measured from the frame or side plate surface. I've done them on three bikes now, all three needed the pin filled down a bit.

On the LAST UP-DATE on the REAR ISOLATORS is there is a RIGHT SIDE ISOLATOR and a LEFT SIDE ISOLATOR ...

They could have reversed the and there in was the no fit problem ???

That's possible - I didn't try them the other way - being how they are clearly marked "L" and "R".

Mine needed to be clearanced at the forward edge to clear the downtube. But the tabs seem out of the way. They are much sturdier looking in terms of the amount of material on them. Having some hopes of being able to continue to use the S2s for two-up long-distance. The old isolators were failing me every 3000 miles.

I wondered whether they were thicker (in-board to out-board.) If so, then they either squished the rubber more or bent the sideplates. I was going to look again when I take my primary cover off for another issue.
