I would agree with you pash, but I called Al and he said he could not remember what wires went where but that he had done a ton of them and didn't remember which wire went well. He suggested I ask you guys on tthe board since you probably have done it more recently than Him

Use an ohmmeter to determine which two wires are linked when the key is turned to the first "on" position. The third wire is the ignition which powers the engine. See which of the first two wires is linked to the third (ignition) wire at the second key position. That is the wire to the power supply. Power, taillight circuit, engine. 1-2-3 You might want to cut the connector off of the old switch and use lap solder joints and shrink wrap to connect it to the new switch.

thanks, elf.I feel like a total because once I started looking at it closer the wires with color-coded to match the Loom on the M2. got everything hooked and Lights come on etc. But now the starter won't turn over....always something. LOL

Check the fuses, then the kill switch, then the sidestand switch, then the bank angle sensor.

The switch Al sells is for a Dyna, three red wires, two with tracers, solid red(power) hook to same.
Reverse the red wires with black/white tracers for correct ignition sequence.

Been there done it twice.

JR nailed it. Al's switch has the wires reversed. It'll make sense if you look at the sticker showing the key positions. Not sure though if the new switches come with the label any longer.

Thanks for the heads up jram. I thought I had read something on here about a wiring quirk using the afterror market switch.

trace the no start issue to both a crusty killswitch and starter button. Cleaned it up. Everything turns over fine. Fire her up for the first time in 7 years. After clearing her throat she runs perfect.thanks for everyone's help
