Hello All, first and foremost I would like to thank all of you for your shared knowledge on this site. I have lurked around here for a little while and read through old posts but I have come to a stand still. My bike presently will not start. I have replaced the battery and had it load tested. I have used ecm spy to run the fuel pump, then the injectors, then tried to start it and got the pop maybe an idle for 2-3 sec. I have reset TPS correctly via the youtube video and set AFV to 100. No trouble codes presently show up and all my grounds are nice and clean. Gentlemen, I am at a roadblock and I hope one of you can clue me in. I appreciate your time.

well firstly welcome and glad to hear from you, first thing i have to ask is did this just suddenly happen or where there any issues before this. and when you say maybe idle for 2 seconds is that with throttle or at idle

Check your battery to starter connection, at the starter. Sometimes they work loose.

Check fuses and relays too. Map out each one on a piece of paper before you start pulling them out so you return them to their correct location.

This did suddenly just happen, the bike always started quite easily before. It will only idle if I touch the throttle game over it makes a sucking noise (not the normal air going into the intake noise seems more abrupt) and dies. I have checked the starter connection but I will go over it again, can't hurt to be thorough. I checked all fuses and the relays click as I believe they should be doing. I have been referring to the FSM as well. I really have tried everything I could think of or find researching. I wouldn't want to be too much of a newb on here ; ) Thanks for the quick responses guys!

Sounds like she ain't getting no fuel. Could be an injector, could be a weak pump.

if you look under the seat area you will see some wires by the frame on the inside that all go to the same spot, they connect individually to the same spot, what i did is solder them all together in one main ground, there is also the ground strap that connects to the swingarm underneath . i wish i had a pic of the grounds i am talking about but i do not. maybe someone else here does

Ok here's where I am at: I checked the grounds, the large strap was dirty at connection areas but surfaces of connection were clean, I cleaned them anyway. I have only two wires grounded under the seat, I don't know if that is how many I am supposed to have. The previous owner of this bike tore it apart to paint the frame, he was not a genius so I may be missing something somewhere but the bike ran fine all season last year for me. As for fuel delivery the plugs are wet with gas when I pull them, the diagnostics on ecmspy produce positive results. I am unsure of how to pull the injectors themselves I can't seem be able to unscrew the allenhead bolt on the injector bracket, any tips? I had taken a video of ecmspy from when it ran previously and everything matches up currently as far as AFV, TPS, volts, etc.

Squirt starting fluid into the air cleaner. If this makes no difference, your issue is spark. My vote is the cam position sensor; they throw no trouble code when they fail.

I got the bike started and it idled kind of rough but at around 1k steady. I took the bike out and at 3k it bucks like a bronco and I have to give it throttle to stay going otherwise it dies. Today when I went to start it I had a terrible idle followed by a pop and smoke coming out of the intake. TPS has been reset, any other ideas?

Yeah, I have done it twice now just to make sure I hadn't goofed. The bike won't start now it will just start to idle and pop, puff smoke out the intake, and die.

Sportster cam position sensors are cheaper than those made for fuel injection. Carburetors are cheap. If you convert, you may be able to sell your fuel injection module and the injectors and cover the cost of a new module and intake.

My antique SU carburetor has served me well for many years now. Idles like a rock and accelerates like a rocket. Cruises at 2000 rpm without stumbling.

Just a shot in the dark here. Have you changed your fuel filter?
This sure sounds like a fuel issue.

psykick I like where you are going. The bikes previous owner changed it out last spring, but I feel like that would be a cheaper thing to check into first. If that doesn't work I will look into the cam sensor, as for carbing it I have had thoughts ; ) Thanks once again guys. I can't wait to have it out this season. I'll have to get a pic up here so you can see it. It is defiantly one of a kind.
