You can check if it functioning with a voltmeter, but it will only tell you if it sending a signal.

Get your engine at operating temperature ...

Unplug the 02 sensor wire ...

El Cheap O digital multimeter and set on what ever setting gets you to the 5 volt scale(buy at HARBOR FREIGHT) ...

Take one alligator clip on one meter lead and clip it on the head and the other clip to the 02 sensor wire ...

As you moe from idle to just above idle the voltage will fluxuate ...

You have to under stand for the 02 sensor to work properly the right the rear header gasket has to be good ...

IF THIS GASKET IS NOT GOOD THE 02 SENSOR WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY NO MATTER HOW MANY NEW 02 SENSORS IS PUT IN WHICH IS WHY H-D technicians HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH SWAPPING 02 SENSORS WHICH DO NOT WORK !!!
