I have the opportunity to buy a factory S1 race frame and swing arm, but I am not familiar with the differences between a factory race frame and a standard production frame. Can somebody please enlighten me?

TIA

Maybe you should ask this in the 'Court in Session' section?

The biggest difference is that a race frame makes a bike that can't be registered for the street.

There's one on eBay, though it looks like an X1 frame with a tubular sub frame.

My factory S1 race bike frame is a fair bit different from stock (extra bracing)

That's the one and it happens to be local to me. How can you tell it's an X1 frame? If it is, I won't want it.

"How can you tell it's an X1 frame"

Bolt on rear sub frame, removable right side plate and the steering head is a casting instead of a weldment.

By that criteria it's definately an X1 frame, looks nice though.

The sub frame and swing arm are quite a bit different from an X1 though.

If it's the one Zootis is selling I'd agree with Jramsey, it looks just like my X1, right down to the mount the coil attaches to. The swingarm isn't X1 but the frame is in my opinion.
