I was looking at my rear caliper and noticed that it has a lot of play (not linear to the way that it slides). I was wondering if this was normal or if I have an issue. I also noticed that my brake pads rattle around. I think that I remember seeing a blown apart view of the rear caliper assembly in the service manual, but I didn't see a spring plate for the top side of the pads.

Does anyone know there is a part that I'm missing that could prevent the pads from rattling? I know that there is a spring plate on the front to prevent this.
I have checked that all blots are tight back there.

Thanks!

Checked my parts book for a 2000, there is no spring or anything, only the rubber bushings. But don't disc brakes always have the piston lightly pushing the pad to the rotor? If it's rattling, I'd guess either the pads are worn to nothing and/or the pistons (caliper) needs rebuilt.

Yes, its 3 years later and I still have the rattle on my rear caliper : ( This year I have decided to try to address all of my rattles : ) I discovered that I'm missing the rubber bushing on the rear caliper hanger that cushions the slider pin. It probably rotted out and fell apart.
Does anyone know the part number for this or an equivalent part? I found a parts diagram, but don't see that it's a separate part. Did I describe the part well enough? If not I can find a picture.

Thanks!
