So Buellistic & Ducxl:

What's the ideal RPM range for these tubers? I'm always hitting 4000+ on my stock '00 M2 and finding it wanting up there.

I have a Suzuki Bandit 1200 with some mods for the times when I want crazy acceleration on brute power but I love my Buells for the way they handle.

If I had to choose just one bike, it would be my stock motor Buell M 2 with a rejetted carb and Force intake.

I had clutch issues too.like two destroyed baskets

But I'm not entirely honest.early evo XL engines had the stator/motor behind the basket.still tho, reliability suffers.

BUELLathebuzzer:

If you want your engine to last keep the RPM's below 6500 RPM's ...

The shift RPM is 6800 RPM ...

If you want to run it hard DO NOT EXCEED 7000 RPM !!!

GET A SHIFT LITE !!!

If the EVO SPORTSTER engines did not have a REV LIMITER they would REV smoothly till they exploded ...

Interesting information for the "soon to be" Buell noob. I'm enjoying learning what I can about these bikes before I pick up my new to me S1 next weekend.

So, if it's best to keep these engines below 6500 RPM and should nver exceed 7000 RPM, I have to ask just for my peace of mind, what is the rev limited set to?

I've very seldom approached red line on my Duc or BMW (both relatively low rev machines)but I would like to know about the rev limiter on these bikes just to be safe.

I understand that it's set at 6000. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

My favorite modifications??

Look at them in my profile.

Partial to the motor though.

Waiting to install the dual caliper kit from Buell with a second wave rotor.
I want to try a 44mm CV carb next, already have the intake for it.

Brinnutz, the kiddie car, purple bicycle on training wheels and what appears to be hopscotch or sidewalk chalk art really accent the bike. I say that in an understanding way as I have a 7 year old and twin 3 year olds.

Actually, that pic was taken at tattodnscrewed's house the day I picked it up. I don't have kids...yet. Getting married in July, and probably start breeding next year.

Definitely the XB front end with the 8 piston 1125 caliper. Would love to get a laser cut and thinner rotor to compliment it.

After that, cuttin and rewelding the rear shock bracket to add height to the rear. LOVE IT. Though it makes the bike need more rake.

I used to joke that my favorite three performance mods were as follows....

1. Open the throttle.
2. Change down a gear and then open the throttle.
3. If the above two are not enough, buy a faster bike.

I have a 00 M2 and love it. I've tried to keep it as stock as possible on purpose but change just enough to make it tighter as I think it's a bit rough around the edges.
In one way that's part of it's charm, but these few simple things have made it more tailored if that makes sense.

It came with the early Showa rear shock without the reservoir and it was no better than a pogo stick, plus it blew so I changes it to a Works shock. Night and day difference.

Replaced stock seat with a Corbin. Huge difference in comfort as it's more evenly firm. One complaint is that the seat bucket I feel is an inch too far back. Had I known that I would have had them move it an inch forward. I prefer sitting close to the tank. Or maybe I would look at a Sergeant if I had it to do again.

CRG levers - I adjust them to fit my hands perfectly.

Muller Power clutch - 20% less pull effort which has been helpful in traffic. Initially I couldn't get the adjustment right until I called them in Germany. Once I understood the basic mechanics of it it was easy to adjust.

Revalved and sprung front forks to my weight. Now the adjustment screw actually work.

I wanted to keep the stock CV 40 carb. I had it off nearly a dozen times and have it adjusted perfectly. No hiccups, coughs, sputters fart etc. clean and crisp instant throttle response.

Aluminum X1 footpegs - The stock rubber pegs felt slippery. My feet were on, but they didn't feel completely connected. The X1 pegs have good grip which make me feel more directly connected to the bike.

The individually items have made a very noticeable difference within their respective areas. And collectively, they've honed what was already good to something that fit me just right, something even better.
