Hi All, been lurking awhile, just scored a pretty radical S2, anyways no gas cap key as P-O lost it....The lock cylinder is stamped 244 is that also the key code??

Thanks in advance, Rob

The gas cap lock is generic. Any round key that fits will turn it. The ignition key should fit the fork lock.

UMMMM...for later tube framed bikes that is correct...but NOT for an S2.

The 244 should be the key code for the gas cap. And the fork lock of an S2 DEFINITELY CAN'T be operated by the ignition key. It takes a flat key, but a different flat key than the gas cap.

Awesome S2, Rob!

Nice S2, looks great!

1313 would definitely know what he's talking about here.

If you have to have a locking gas cap...get one for a Blast. Fits fine, uses the barrel key like the ignition...and has the "universal" feature. Me, I use a non-locking M2 cap. Don't need a gas cap locking itself at an inopportune moment (like, when I need gas).

Now...those look like significantly bigger jugs. What size engine does that thing have? NICE looking bike - love to hear more about what's in it / on it : )

Joe/Rat,
the Blast cap is not lockable.

Yup, you're right.

I brain-farted. I changed to a Blast cap so it wouldn't lock.

Ratbuell-I really dont know too much about the engine other than it was built in late 95 by Brian Dixon and Dave Gauthier
at HD. The S&S jugs are big enough that it has external oil returns and they could not keep a belt on it while dyno tuning it so they did a big mo-fo chain conversion. The original owner said it was just too much of a handful to drive much so it sat for 6yrs before I aquired it. I only have put 40 miles on it to get it home in late 2010 and am GUILTY of not using it the last year as it was hidden during a rather ugly divorce. Im trying to get some more specifics on the build. it is a signature edition #711

Thanks for the replies guys

Rob

Nice bike - bolt!!

The custom RS I had was converted to S2 bodywork with bits and pieces, and I had no less than 5 keys for it.

fork lock, ignition, gas cap, saddlebags, seat.

Sounded like my high school janitor when I had them hanging on my beltloop.

Built by Dixon? Been a long time since I heard that name. He worked in the dyno lab at Juneau Ave. back then. I bet is runs very nicely, as he really knew his way around those lumps.
