I did 945Km's in one day, all on country roads on a 97 Cyclone plus I'm 6'5" 125Kg. I was a tad sore when I finished. The guys I was with were all on big touring bikes I was the only Buell rider. That was about 5 years ago funny thing is all but one now own Buells (7 in total)

Bun Burner 1500: 1,545 miles in 34 hours on a 1986 Gold Wing, almost no freeways and lots of twisties. Contrary to what many believe, a touring bike is a lousy choice for that kind of riding--too heavy and clumsy in the mountains.

Saddle Sore 1000: 1141 miles in 22 hours, same bike, same conditions.

Just getting home: Taos, NM to Palmdale, Ca on BMW R100GS. Didn't leave camp until noon and didn't think I was riding all the way home until the sun went down. Lots of stops & side-trips all afternoon. 991 miles, 18.5 hours.

Just for lunch: 650 mile lunch ride through Yosemite. I usually do this a couple of times a year. Done it once with a girlfriend on the back. ZX11 Kawasaki is my usual ride but, I'm outfitting my S3 to be a good mount for that loop.

Probably about 450 miles in a day... I never had a trip lined up that needed more than that. It would be interesting to try someday, but not at the cost of taking really high risks or ruining a good ride to get high milage.

-1730 miles in 31 hrs (Buffalo, NY to Buena Vista, CO for S2 rally).

-1520 miles in 25 hrs (Buffalo, NY to wichita Falls, TX). It would have been less than 24hrs if I hadn't ran out of gas at 4 in the morning and had to push for three miles in the rain!

I have done numerous 1K days on the S2 and the XB9R...

These days, the S2 gets most of the long trips. Its just a whole lot better for that kind of riding!!!

Somewhere over 600 in 2001 coming back from Florida. Left Florida and made it somewhere in N. Tennessee. It was on my X1 so needless to say I was ready to get off. 10 of us on the Two laners all day.

I've done some extended rides w/ my wife. We always take a leisurely ride out with a scheduled stop over to break up the ride. But when we're on our way back home, we tend to just point the bikes homeward and ride 'till we're back.

The longest:

600 miles in 14 hours - Las Vegas, NV to Sonoma, CA

760 miles in 16 hours - Williams, AZ to Sonoma, CA (returning from a trip to the Grand Canyon)

I was supposed to meet my friends up in Montreal. I rode from My town near Worcester, MA and took the nice relaxed scenic ride up mostly route 12.
Like this mostly:
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Worcester,+MA&da ddr=44.63525,-73.26573+to:Montreal,+QC,+Canada&hl= en&ll=43.965145,-72.888794&spn=1.526153,2.285156&s ll=43.990839,-73.146973&sspn=1.525493,2.285156&geo code=FUHghAIdS2K4-ykNiypaWAbkiTFtTcp_2H0Tng%3BFXIU qQIdvg2i-ymLw6d6hWzKTDH4eiIVDRaILg%3BFRlptgIdCaed- ykNt2QcVBrJTDHv7x8hODFOZQ&vpsrc=6&dirflg=h&mra=dpe &mrsp=1&sz=9&via=1&t=m&z=9

It was a great relaxed ride.

Then came the SUCK.
I couldn't find the Hotel.
I didn't have a cell phone.
I got stuck in Montreal traffic on a Saturday night for hours.

When I gave up on finding them, it was about 11:00 to midnight. I decided to just get on the higway south, and check into the first large motel I saw south of the US border.

NOPE. After I got gas at the truck stop, Civilization just ended south of there!
I then tucked in and rode at maximum fuel economy mode for almost 200 miles before I saw an open gas station. It was almost in Troy by then. I took route 2 home from Troy like a zombie. The sun was coming up by then.

It wasn't the most miles I ever got out of a day but it was the most brutal day riding I ever had.
I think I was on that X1 for over 20 hours.

A couple 500 milers here...but on an S1...that's like double compared to any other tuber...and one of those was two-up. One was the last day of a 3-day 1300mi trip from WNY to SFL...and that was with clip-ons and rearsets.

Cool story Nate. It brings up an interesting potential tangent here... what would be the minimal "&%^$ it, I'll just camp anywhere" setup you could pack on a Uly and have with you on a long trip?

Maybe an MRE, a litre of water, matches, a space blanket (that coated mylar stuff) taped up to make a sleeping bag, bug spray, wet wipes, maybe some heat packs, and some glowsticks?

When I got a flat in Nowhere, VA, I was only a few hours from that kind of scenario when Alex rode to the rescue. No easy way to get to a hotel, and it would be asking a lot to ask some stranger to crash in their house (though I bet in that area they would let me, great folk there). But not unreasonable to find somebody, knock on their door, explain the problem, and ask them if they mind if you sleep in their back yard by the bike until you can sort things in the morning.

500 miles on an S1? AAAACKKKK! I did 15 miles on an S1, and that was about 10 miles too many. I can't spend enough time enjoying how an S1 looks, but one ride on one was enough for me.

(I feel the same way about a .500 S&W revolver... shot one 5 times, and that was 4 times too many)

My 920 miler was on the '97 M2 with rearsets and clipons. It's really not so bad once you train your parts.

800 miles in 12 hours on the XT.

Osceola, MO to OKC, OK via Eureka Springs and Ozark, AR.

I loved every minute of the ride. In my experience, staying off the interstate makes any ride more enjoyable even if it adds a few hours to the trip.

After 250 my butt hurts.

Edit: Did that just edit out the word "j e b u s"?
Is that offensive?

Back in '77 I rode from Hawthorne, NV to Fallon, ($15.00 speeding ticket) then to Travis AFB on a '73 Sportster and did my butt hurt! The Sept. weather was perfect. I later noticed the stock seat pan was cracked...I'm sure that wasn't helping comfort. 700 miles

Nwrider,

Yes it is, and incredibly so, at least to me. Rather than making a mockery of the name of Jesus, why not try "gosh", or "wow", or "holy cow", "Crom", or "krikey", or any number of possible exclamations that have nothing to do with the dearly held faith of so many people?

Think.

Why even use the expression, to what purpose really?

That said, it wasn't usage in context like yours that led to the word making the BadWeB strike list. It was being used with the intent to mock and deride, very mean-spirited. Not like your use, but that's what led to it being added to the list of words that BadWeB strikes out.

Thanks for understanding. : )

780 on my RS1200. Man, I needed a break after that.

Done a couple 1260s, "up home" to here on my RoadGlide and Hayabusa.

Just did a Indy to here 1054 miles back from MotoGP a couple weeks ago, 16 hours.

Blake,

Thanks for the clarification. I meant no disrespect. I replace offensive words with similar words to censor my self. I now know that was a bad choice. I do like "krikey" very much, great suggestion!

Again... I meant no disrespect and I thank YOU for understanding.

I think I need to push for 450 this weekend. Just need a good couple hours rest in the middle.
