Any of you guys wear a leather vest? Any specific brand? I'm looking into getting one for patches so I can wear for the patriot guard. Thanks guys.

Check out Fox Creek Leather down at the southern end of the BRP in VA. Made in USA - got my jacket there - super quality.

I don't wear a vest, but if I did, it would be Fox Creek. Their jacket is that nice.

I've always wanted to ask.

What is the point of a leather vest? Other then displaying 'colors'

I agree, a leather jacket, leather pants is the only thing I wear.

Besides my assless chaps, but that is another story!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the purpose I want in it....I was in the military so I have patches, job badges, and OIF/OEF stuff and such that I would like to put on it...its more for the pgr (patriot guard riders) then just to ride around in all the time...

I suppose they could shield against bugs and other air born objects (including cigarette butts thrown out by moron drivers) on a clean shirt as well as stopping the shirt from flapping in the wind. Clearly they offer no protection against spills.

You're welcome mtjm2. I got a buddy who's a district captain he's a good guy. Crazy Vietnam Vet but a awesome guy. He's the one who talked me into it. And with all this protesting crap going on. Anything to help a fallen vet. Ya know you don't have to be a Veteran to do PGR. They just want people willing to help against the protestors. They Also do welcome homes and other fun stuff.

@kalai i know exactly what your saying...i had a butt hit the lip of the helmet and hot ashes went all inside my helmet... i wasn't too happy...

I think I'd rather have a heavy leather vest on than just a T-shirt if I went down. There's lots of vital organs 'n such tucked behind a vest.

Of course, your arms would probably be abraded down to stubs, but it's better than zip.

With the PGR, you are probably at parade speeds in general anyway.

A leather vest can work as a windblock under a Roadcrafter on a cool morning, when you know it'll be much warmer in the afternoon. Optional whether to take off the leather vest along with the R-C when one arrives at work.

"I thought I was gonna get a bunch of "buell guys don't wear vests" comments."

Yo, Fick-

Buell guys don't wear vests.

There.

But, you could just cut the sleeves off of a Levi jacket to sew your patches and shit onto.

I think that may be the be the origin of the term "cut" referring to club color vests.

If I may be a bit cynical, a vest with patches and pins, a cigar in the corner of your mouth,
a Nazi helmet and apehangers can turn a normally pussywhipped, flabby, out of shape desk jockey into a major baddass,
to be feared by all of society.

At least, that is how they do it here in Sunny So Cal.

You, of course, wouldn't be heading down THAT road.
