I have been playing with the carbs on a couple bikes with the Keihin CV 40. I found some info that may help someone someday. I bought one of those EZ-Just. Seems they are made out of pure brass (I started to say 'solid'.) That's considered to wear out fairly quickly, just about nobody else uses unalloyed brass to make carb parts. Anyway, before I could put it in, cleaning off the bench, and the EZ-Just dropped to the floor. The Needle Tip bent all the way over, pointing to the side. I didn't even think it landed on its tip, but the much heavier handle end. Anyway, tried to straighten it, but never seemed to run right, so now its scrap metal. This seems just too soft of a metal to last as long as I want my carb parts to last. YMMV... | ||

Jayvee I am not pushing the EZ-Just but please look at all the other information included. A lot of it there. I really believe I do not need it because once it is adjusted correctly you need not touch it. It is also the other links that may help others. Have you looked at those also. Well I personally have learned a few things just reading them. Hey it is just my opinion. | ||

I got a 40mm Keihin rebuilt by some guys on ebay calling themselves Killer Carbs in the states ,pretty cheap rebuild reshapes the slide and polishes the carb internally up for better flow after its been acid bathed to clean out all the little channels in there then replaces the spring with a snappier one and all the fittings with brass and allen head screws in all the covers etc , really top job and the bike runs like clockwork had trouble starting cold and idling properly and once i bolted this on all fixed , and I reckon its up the hp slightly too , they claim an extra 10hp but i dont think its that much just a lot snappier down low | ||

Buell_bert I got those same sites bookmarked already. I've read them all at least 10 times. I'm still not sure I get it. Just thought that EZ-Just might not be the cat's pajamas that it sounds like. About the same price as the bent screwdriver carb adjuster Motion Pro sells. The other sites pertain mostly to Sportsters as I recall, but very very informative, absolutely. | ||

James, For what it's worth....I've had the EZ-just in my CV carbs for about seven or eight years now. Works fine, probably haven't moved it in three or four years.(no new mods.) | ||

There is just a lot of pipe guarding that screw for these fat fingers to get access to it. Got another burn a couple days ago. That makes about 3 or 4. That was kind of what got me looking for more info on the CV 40 carb beyond the factory manual. I have not bought the EZ-just yet either. |
