What do you do if you need more fuel in your mapping but you can only go to 255 on ECM? The AFV is also at 105 I know I can go more but is there another way? Also does anyone have any racing EEPROMS I can try, it is on a drag bike that is moderately built with a velocity stack and force exhaust.

Back to the fuel would I be better off running the original racing eeprom and just jacking up the AFV%?

Let me get this out of the way,
Put a carb on it!

That wouldnt be any fun beating my head against the wall working with the EFI.

I know it is possible to get a fuel injected bike down the track time after time again with no problems I did it for a good part of last year. Now I have a new motor and new problems.

What changes did you make that you now need to max out your fuel delivery? And you can get a higher pressure regulator, we did one not long ago.

The bike will start to spit and pop before shifting (most the time), I added more fuel from 5000-7000 RPM @ 100% throttle and it gets better. I set my AFV to 103 then 105 and it gets better, I don't use an O2 sensor because it always sets my AFV to 150%. When the bike is cool it runs A LOT BETTER! The problem with bracket racing it doesn't always get a chance to cool down (especially with 100 degree weather) as the bike gets hotter the problem gets worse so I only assume it needs more fuel?

Fireman are you associated with JTS performance?
I saw some of your other post and one where you referenced them. I only asked because I have called before and I hear GREAT things about JTS, wished I had the $ to send my bike out to Cali.

Just to clarify the bike is setup where the shift minder sends signal to an air over electric solenoid to automatically shift @ 6500 RPM or where ever I set it. I have even tried backing the shift point down and that seems to make it worse.

have you thought about using larger injectors?

Willie, yup, I am the J in JT&S.
Max fuel is 255,what are you up to? Have you tried adding some at the next lower TP--IIRC on an X-1 it is like 69%??
And you are killing ignition for shift not fuel, right?
And your O2 sensor was setting it to 150 because you had a lean--real lean--spot in your learned fuel area, which on an X-1 is tiny compared to later XB's.You should really try and get the bike to a dyno so see what your fuel is doing. And no intake leaks, seals, the always absent rubber cap on the vacuum port on the TB?

Another item to check, we have had a couple X-1's with low fuel pressure, should have around 50-55 and it should hold when shut off. Have one in here right now putting out 22 psi.Unless you are running an 88" motor 255 should be more than enough.

I ran into an issue dyno-tuning Seth Hiems' 90 inch X1. Threw fuel at and it was still lean, and eventually maxed out the map.

Replaced the Fuel Filter and it finally started responding to fuel mapping. Fuel pressure checked right on at 55 psi, but the delivery was nil because the filter is after the pump.

I would suggest a new fuel filter.

You mean the maximum value that can be put in a given cell in the fuel map is 255?
I thought the significance of 255 was that it is equivalent of 100 in hex. That's why the TP% max is 255 (=100%).

255 decimal is not 100 in hex, but FF, or 11111111 in binary. 11111111 for an 8 bit word is max value.

No fuel filter

Fuel Pressure is 55

Plugs look damn near perfect a little black around the base and white at the tip.

Hootowl I nave no idea what your talking about that all sounds to technical for me.

One thing that has me so confused is that it isnt consistent. It will run great one pass and then the next pass fall on its face after 60'.

I had the same problem last year and kept throw more fuel at it and it run great, but now ive ran out of fuel to throw at it.

I only want it to run good for a 1/4 mile at a time?

Hootowl, thanks for the explanation. I stand corrected. Somehow I remembered some sort of a mathematical relationship between 255 and 100. Must have had one too many...

OK. This is what I was thinking...
On the TP axis (in ECMSPY) the range is from 0-255 (8bit) where 255 corresponds to 100 decimal. So for example a 50% TP is something like 0.5*255= 127.5 8bit.
So 100% is 255.
Sorry for going off tangent.

On a little side path. Can a computer for an XB be used on a X1? What would have to be changed to do it if it is possible? Thanks!!

I don't think you can not swap ECMs between the DDFI and DDFI II/III bikes. The FI systems are very different.
