Hello buellers.
For all who followed my old post,

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?47623/498822

AND

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?47623/522799

I got rid-off the infamous 2500-3000RPM torque drop.

Since I switched my X1 from stock header 2.5"/ D&D slip-on muffler to a D&D full race exhaust system the torque drop in 2.500 rpm was GONE. with no stumbling now.

The engine pulls better then before throughout the RPM range. I also noticed a big top end and midrange power gain, it has no flat spots does not stutter. Noticeable power and torque increase. In short, it's much faster now. I'm very pleased with the way it runs.

I highly recommend the D&D full race system.
DAMN it sounds sweet....

I never imagined that the header exhaust would make so much difference.
I think everything is starting to settle.

The torque dip was due by a bad exhaust system/ to reversion&resonance in the stock header.

Regards.

Just finishing the install on mine. Can't wait! How doest the sound compare to the stock header with D&D. That is exactly what I just took off..

Great. Did you have to do anything with the fuel/timing maps to get it dialed in?

Yes Kalali,
I increased the amount of 24 clicks to the injector timing" in that area of the fuel map front and rear (2500 rpm). I have Also advanced the Timing Table in 2500 rpm to 21º and "WOT ENRICHMENT" from 115 to 125.

My engine is loving this setup.
Regards.

Any other mods? What air filter setup are you running? I am currently in the process of hacking my stock airbox. I have the race ecm but will see how it runs and then try some of your changes in ecmspy. Mine currently has more than a flat spot at that rpm. If I roll on the throttle its not there but if I jump on it at about 2500 it will sometimes stutter first.

My "flat spot" was nowhere as bad as Impala's but with V&H SS2R and the changes in the fuel maps I was able to get a linear throttle response all the way up to redline.

I am ordering a D&D exhaust for my 99 S3 on Thursday. I have a K&N filter and will be installing a race ecm with the stock header. Does anybody know how this will run after a TPS reset?

It should run pretty dam good.

Last week I switched out the Wileyco for a Supertrapp along with the race ecm and the X1 now runs like raped ape.

No dead spots.

The Race ECM is matched with the Buell Race header, Race exhaust and free flow air filter and in general, the Race maps are set rich enough to support most aftermarket intake/exhaust set ups. If you waned to be really sure for your specific set up, reset the TPS and the AFV after your install. Then ride the bike for a while and check your AFV again. If it is between 95-110, just leave it alone. If it is outside that range, then you may want to change the fuel maps to bring it into that range.

The full race system is VERY different from the Slip-on in sound and performance.
Sound is deep, not raspy. loud but a bit less than the Force. It sounds unbelievable! It's a good exhaust. That thing pulls like a monster!....

There is pretty difference between the two exhaust system setups.

Impala, I'm running with1250 kit/Hurricane forged pistons, 10:5:1 compression (NRHS) and Stage 1 porting heads from NRHS.
My air filter setup is a C.F. Hurricane Flow Air cleaner with KN filter element.

Perhaps the stumbling in 2500 rpm in open the throttle wide because of my engine mods along with my exhaust system setups. Maybe not on stock engine, I'm not sure of this.....

I thought you got rid of alot of that drop with more accelerator. Please tell us how that compares to the new header. Did the accel value turn up get rid of all or some and now all is gone?

Ok Mmmi_grad,

When I increased Accel Rev to 3 value and Accel Enrichment to 25% in the 2500 rpm range noticed a improvement and that helped a lot. The engine behavior was better in that 2500 rpm range. It all improved but did not go away so it really does not bothered me but I just wanted it to be perfect..

I spent a great deal of time working on the fuel map area. I tried to fix it by adding/reducing fuel. But when I tried increase WOT ENRICHMENT still the stumbling on there so I had reducing fuel in that 2500 rpm range.

Up to now adding fuel at WOT= more stumbling.....

This problem has been driving me crazy until I installed the D&D full exhaust system.

I ended up with 25% enrichment at 2500 and full accel revs to 3.
Now when twist the throttle quickly from very low rpm the bike does not any stumbling at all. Good response when you twist the throttle quickly. Now the problem went away completely, all is gone.

I'm sorry but english is not my first language and still find some difficulties to express what I have in my mind.

Regards.
