I have the buell race header on my bike. It seems to be common that the front exhaust hanger breaks in half. Well mine has accomplished this little break. I was just going to replace the hanger with a new one, but I am reading there is an updated Y hanger I can use as well (pictured in this thread http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/480221.html ). Has anyone used this Y hanger in combination with the buell race header? Just curious how the header will be hung from the new Y bracket.

These are from the instructions that come with the update kit. It show's the stock setup, but just imagine the race header there and it should give you the idea. PM me and I'll send you the PDF if you like.

The race header attaches using this:

And a clamp or two.

sent a PM to 14d.

Really what I want to know is if this new Y bracket helps to reduce the frequency of the exhaust hanger (the one mentioned in Brinnutz's post) breaking in half. Since mine just broke in half I am looking to try to improve the current situation while everything is apart.

Yes.

They wouldn't have updated it to a newer, less prone to vibrations because there are rubber bushings in the Y Bracket.

+1.

I'll be installing the updated one after the hanger on the V&H broke off for at least the third time (my fault this time). Sent ya the PDF cobraman.

My stock hanger is in a good shape but I would love to change over to the Y hanger just for a piece of mind. Except I find $125 a bit too much. May be I am getting cheap in my old age...

The Y-bracket alone is around $45ish IIRC. Al's kit contains more than the Y-bracket.

Oh, OK. I will take a look a it again. $45 is more like it. Thanks for the clarification.

Voltage regulator needs to be moved via a new bracket which comes in the kit.

Depends on which bike you are using it on. Some bikes have the VR in a different location.

Now I remember. 14d is correct. On X1 you need the "kit". That's why it costs $125.

The kit also includes the large hoop band rear muffler clamp for the stock muffler, which you may not need if you are running an aftermarket exhaust.

I believe I spent around $50 for mine on my S3 -- no more welding and fabricating rear hangers and no more broke exhaust studs -- even if it's now $150 it's money well spent-- You will have to lift the bike -- ratchet strap from the wife's yard swing frame worked great -- even if I did get a little talking to --
