I just installed a race muffler on the S2, with the help of an automotive exhaust adaptor (stock 2" 'turns the corner' S2 header, 2.5" race can inlet). SOOO much better than that damn 'Trapp!!!

Just in case anyone here works in the automotive field, is there a stainless steel version of a Walker 41960 reducer? It's a 2" ID to 2.5" OD, and it's even the right length!! If I can't buy, I'll have the guys in the machine shop make me one and weld it to the muffler for safety's sake, but I'm sure buying will be cheaper. For now though, the aluminized will work just fine. If it rusts, it gets wrapped! LOL.

I'd pay a dollar to see a picture of it.

In what way(s) is it so much better than the 'Trapp ?

Louder, quieter, sound 'tone', better performance, looks, weight?

How did you mount the front end of the muffler? Did you use the little "shoe" thing, clamped to your adaptor?

For mounting, the stock S2 header has the front hangar on the end of the header, not on the muffler. The outlet of the header actually faces the back of the bike, not the side like most tubers. Think later race header.

The "much better" is tone. It gets those damn bees out of my helmet! The external disc supertrapp that was on it was a very midrange-y (sound wise) muffler with a lot of helmet resonance and buzz. The race can is deeper, actually a bit quieter, and I hear wind going past my helmet again instead of just bees...too many bees....lol.

Performance, on the short test run, seems spot on with the 'trapp, which I was running with no end cap.

And yes, I had tried it with an endcap for noise levels; I tried different disc numbers; I tried everything. It got louder and quieter as I made changes, the end cap killed power anywhere over 5k, but those damn bees never went away.

I also think it looks better. I always liked the race can, and that Supertrapp looked like a transmission oil funnel hanging under the bike to me. I'll get pics when my wife gets home with the camera. No dollar required : )

I always liked the old SuperTrapp that came on S2's, but I always wondered if it was bad for the back tire to have the exhaust always blowing on it.

Let's see a pic of that race muffler!

Pictures. The adaptor looks like it's rusting, but it's not. I sprayed it with high temp engine clearcoat and it's turning gold from the heat. We'll see how long it keeps the rust at bay, LOL. But it's just a regular automotive 2" ID to 2.5" OD adaptor, right length and everything. I was surprised I didn't have to do any cutting.

...and yes, I know the bike is filthy! : )
