Welcome to the United States of America. ...

Now rapidly being fundamentally transformed into something completely contrary to the principles and values intended by its founders.

are you implying that it is bad that you have the freedom to say something even if someone else finds it offensive?
EDIT: It isn't bad so much as annoying and inconvenient at times. It cost the city of Cape Giradeau, MO $5000 in legal fees when they lost to the KKK.

I think it is useful to follow changes in enforcement by police in the jurisdictions you are posting about. The differences in enforcement typically reflect the differences in cultures.

''I think it is useful to follow changes in enforcement by police in the jurisdictions you are posting about. The differences in enforcement typically reflect the differences in cultures.''

How do ''hate speech'' laws reflect the differences in cultures? ''Hate speech'' laws reflect only the interest of corporations such as SPLC, ADL and ACLU, not the interest of cultures. Unless you want to argue that these corporations work in the interest of different cultures, which doesn't seem very likely. Or let me put this way, how do cultures benefit from ''hate speech'' laws? When was the last time cultures were enriched by such laws?

What I wrote about following enforcement was only a reply to your question "Which rules, policies and regulations apply in different countries?" and nothing more. For example ask a German liberal how cultures benefit from hate speech laws, and not an American liberal, because America doesn't have hate speech laws while Germany does. That's a cultural difference.

I agree with you that there are cultural differences, but I'm not sure that ''hate speech'' laws are the result of cultural differences. We know that the ADL gave Angela Merkel the Joseph Prize for Human Rights, and she went on to limit freedom of expression on grounds of ''hate speech''. These rules, policies and regulations are imposed upon big tech platforms by corporations as a form of control of speech. When YouTube removes a video from their platform because of ''hate speech'', it is removed globally in every country and not just locally in one country. So obviously these rules, policies and regulations influence all cultures equally and not just one culture specifically. America may not have ''hate speech'' laws, but America is affected by them nonetheless. Hence why I question the idea that these laws are just a matter of cultural differences, because it isn't. Corporations, not culture, decide what is ''hate speech''. There is a term for that, it's called corporate fascism.

It seems you have a problem with YouTube's corporate culture. They can delete whatever videos they want to, the US Courts consider them a private company and not a public platform.
You and I have already covered this material in the "Theology, Philosophy, Free Speech & Unalienable Rights» The demise of free speech, cause FEELINGS!" Thread from mid January to April of this year.

Not problems, but questions. Private companies cannot act above the law. The fact of the matter is that ''hate speech'' is not law, at least not in the USA. Given that these companies operate internationally, the ''law''' part becomes even more complex than it already is.

Platform, or Publisher?
If Big Tech firms want to retain valuable government protections, then they need to get out of the censorship business.
https://www.city-journal.org/html/platform-or-publ isher-15888.html

In other words, they cannot delete whatever videos they want to without giving up government protections. Private companies enjoy certain benefits on certain conditions. When they don't meet those conditions, then they don't get to enjoy those benefits. This is on reason why these companies are being sued. Twitter, for example, is partly owned by the Saudi prince. So who gets to decide what is ''hate speech'' on these platforms? The Supreme Court, or the Supreme Saudi prince?

This Saudi prince now owns more of Twitter than Jack Dorsey does
https://qz.com/519388/this-saudi-prince-now-owns-m ore-of-twitter-than-jack-dorsey-does/

Here's an example, do private banks have the right to deny you access to your bank account if they disagree with your speech? Suppose someone wants to withdraw money from their account, but the private bank denies them access to the platform because their views are labeled as ''hate speech''. The private bank can do whatever they want, right? But if private banks cannot do whatever they want, then why can private companies such as YouTube do whatever they want?

I'm not claiming that these questions have easy answers, for all we know there are currently no answers available. Perhaps the current laws lack behind and need to catch up to accommodate for these technological changes. My point is that consistency needs to maintained. If private companies can censor whatever they like, then private banks can also do whatever they want.

How about private banks denying platform to gun owners?

These appear to be enforcement issues with those tasked with enforcing Section 230. I'm pretty sure your banking scenario would be enforced rather quickly by the Feds. (Federal Reserve? IDK)

Federal Reserve is not a branch of government, so I'm not sure how much they can enforce. Also, Trump recently became the chairman of the Fed:

https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-03 -27/federal-reserve-s-financial-cure-risks-being-w orse-than-disease

''This scheme essentially merges the Fed and Treasury into one organization. So, meet your new Fed chairman, Donald J. Trump.''

Perhaps Trump is going to become the chairman of the big tech companies too? I'm saying this half-jokingly, because it is not unlikely that the big tech companies get restructured in a similar way.

The Federal Reserve System is considered to be an independent central bank. It is so, however, only in the sense that its decisions do not have to be ratified by the President or anyone else in the executive branch of the government. The lesson of the 2000's has become clear.

If you are sexually assaulted by a powerful man or woman with a R Label, you call the police, and they will be destroyed, maybe even prosecuted.

If the powerful man or woman has a D label, YOU will be destroyed, maybe even prosecuted.

In either case the Mob Outrage will generate personal atfacks, the publication of the accussed's address, their school location & class times, and the odds of an unhinged Bernie or Hillary supporter murdering them is high.

So what have we, as a society, learned?

Justice is For Sale, and the law only applies to the Enemies of the Democrats.

How does America resist the subversion process? We see clearly that there is subversion going on in the media. There is monopolisation, where a handful of corporations own the media:

These 6 Corporations Control 90% Of The Media In America
https://www.businessinsider.com.au/these-6-corpora tions-control-90-of-the-media-in-america-2012-6

Monopolisation makes manipulation much easier. Manipulation makes discrediting easier. Once discrediting is achieved, the media can push for non-issues, resulting in uniformed myopia.

Is there a way out? I'd argue for a restructuring of the media. Similar to the restructuring of the Federal Reserve.

Not soon enough!

Either Trump is way too trusting and naive beyond hope, or he's playing a very shrewd long game, possibly for political benefit.

Maybe they never expected him to block travel from China so early.

if he hadn't, America would be looking at hundreds of thousands dead already.

"Why should a private worker in, say, Texas, be liable to pay for the horrible financial quagmire that New Jersey union bosses and politicians created in their own state?"

Ditto other blue states. The example of a $78k pension is equivalent to a 5% return on a $1.56 million nest egg that won't go down. Dem voters with that kind of cushion should be more self-aware when they talk about millionaires and greed. The whining from the high property tax states about the deduction being limited is in the same category.

All the more reason for corporal punishment.

You kill someone? You get killed. Period, end of discussion, do not pass go.

"Insanity" plea? Doesn't matter. If your insanity made you kill someone, that makes you LESS likely to be rehabilitated.

There's no deterrent effect anymore. Moreso now, with these "pandemic releases" to "keep inmates safe".

Bullshit.

Want to keep convicted criminals who are still serving time, safe? Lock down the prisons and don't let anyone IN, to give them the virus. Social-distance within prisons. Inmates refuse to cooperate? Solitary. Period.

Our elected officials (tyrants-in-training) are being more harsh on FREE CITIZENS than they are on convicted criminals in jail. Again - that's bullshit.
