I think a buyback/confiscation situation would go extremely...poorly. The political elites would love to see it, but enforcement simply isn't there unless they create a completely new police class. No LEO I have ever spoken to would enforce such a policy. Beauracrats, sure...but the boots on the ground folks? Nah. I just can't see the logistics of it.

Oh, and on the Kavanaugh case? I grew up in the DC 'Burbs. Went to a Catholic high school (Bishop O'Connell, c'90). Knew lots of girls from Holton Arms.
This was before cell phones.
Before twitter and facebook.
Hell, it was before digital cameras! I was lead photog for the school paper, and we had a freakin' DARKROOM.
We STILL knew everything that went on, at any school in the region. ESPECIALLY if there was a "monumental rager" party after a game, or because of someones birthday, or a holiday. If it happened...the grapevine knew. And it spread. Weeks ahead of time, and hundreds of kids would be at the big ones.
"Gang rape parties" - total honesty here - would not go on in that world. At least, not twice. Even as kids, we knew better and we were better than that. Today's kids...not so much. But back then? We had actual DISCIPLINE. Sense of honor and personal responsibility. Accountability. ESPECIALLY us Catholic kids - most households were like mine. Church choir mother; retired military/current government service father; dinner together every night. "Important" friends and families. "Hey, dad's friend/coworker/so-and-so, is on TV again...". Image mattered. "Rape parties" simply wouldn't be tolerated - by either the parents or the kids. We just didn't DO things like that back then. There was no internet; no YouPorn; no mass-consumption of illicit stuff. Once in a while you'd find a paper Penthouse magazine and that was a big deal. It wasn't Mayberry - we drank, we drove too fast, we wrecked cars, we did throw parties - but we didn't rape. We didn't abuse. We weren't criminals - we were kids. And we paid for our mistakes - my folks grounded me a bunch of times for going to parties and drinking; for speeding tickets; for missing curfews. If there was any inkling of anything like these Kavanaugh accusations, anywhere in the region? I fully suspect my father would shoot me. Or at the very least, beat me nearly to death. Stuff like that simply did not happen. Believe me - if it had, every school in the area would hear about it come Monday morning.
I have to say, I didn't see this twist coming. I doubt it will change the minds of any Democrats though. It's not like everybody doesn't already know this whole thing is a sham.

I just turned on the news. Just in time for some prime BS. Of course, this accuser couldn't be in D.C. on Tuesday, because she's afraid to fly, and needed time to drive. Direct question on how she got there... She flew. She flies frequently for work and pleasure. Not very relevant to anything, other than the fact that she can't be relied on to tell the truth.

And that's what gets me - they think they can lie with impunity as long as they're lying about white, hetero men.
But they cry for equality.
OK, you want equality, then you get it on all fronts. Your claims of abuse will be scrutinized just as strongly as the claims made by white men. If your claims are bull$hit, then you pay the price through legal punishment or incarceration, just like everyone else who lies to the court system.

Well coached, good emotional effect, some changes in testimony, ( not always an indication of lying ) and absolutely an abused tool of The Party.
She took a polygraph test, and her lawyer won't let her say who asked her to, and she won't say who paid for it.
I think she is sincere, or at least is a decent actress, as you'd expect from her profession. But I really feel she's an abused puppet and has zero credibility, ever, again, on any subject.
Next, 14 year old accuses Judge Kavenaugh of molesting her in the future.
California really needs to fire their federal legislators. Seriously dishonest monsters.
If the Dems take Congress, that will be their chance to abuse power. Gun theft, alone, plus support of cyber censorship, will be so bad that it sounds like a paranoid rant to describe..
Unbelievable has a whole new meaning when congressmen act like they have this last week, & paid actresses stand around in bad science fiction drama costumes, in the Capitol building, for your daily propaganda feeding.
What gets me is the Dem senators who walked out because they're "disgusted" by the whole process.
Pot...kettle.
They're still hollering "FBI investigation!!" - but Kavanaugh's been deep-background-checked by the FBI SIX TIMES ALREADY for his various security clearances - including one high enough that he could have access to the national nuclear launch codes.
They all need to get the hell out. Go home and lets get some folks elected who actually WORK for the country, instead of self-interests...
For anyone out there who can't imagine that Dr. Ford is mistaken in her account, here are a series of articles on the unreliability of memory Tweeted by Scott Adams this morning. Very interesting reading:
How Hugh, don't go confusing everyone with actual scientific facts...don't you know that in the world of #metoo, no actual fact matters and its all about feelings and motives?
And yet, I fail to see what allegations of assault (very likely false) have to do with the perception of patriarchy. I guess most folks have so little to complain about these days that any little thing will do, even if they have to invent it.
This has nothing to do with "white privilege" - if he didn't do the crime, he didn't do the crime. The left doesn't get a pass on proving a case, just because he's a white male. You don't get to just point a finger and say "you're a white male so you're guilty, PERIOD". That's not how the system works.
If he IS guilty - strongly doubtful, because SIX prior background checks didn't turn up even a blip of a hint - I agree, he should be held accountable. But, you don't get to hold someone accountable for something they DIDN'T do, just because you disagree with their politics, or because of their race/gender.
Again - the system doesn't work that way.
For a reason.
It's called "equality" - everyone gets the same presumption of innocence, until it's PROVEN that they're guilty.
It's entirely possible some folk in the White House ordered the FBI to limit investigation. Higher order/public statement from Donald "trumps" that possible limitations, and if I was the President, I'd want exact details on who placed such limits and who leaked them.
I'd wait until the right moment to fire/prosecute them, and use them to feed fake news stories to further destroy the fading credibility of Democrat Media.
After the midterms seems like a good time to offer them a deal or not. Most, not all, are going to be Obama appointed scum.
New York & other states create tax dodges for millionaires and billionaires because the new tax code......
“We’re accepting contributions,” Mr. Myrick, a Democrat, said. “Frankly I’d rather keep their money here in New York state than use it to finance this tax cut for millionaires and billionaires.”
I figure semi normal folk, making, say, up to five times the average American, aren't paying over $100,000 into a tax dodge they don't need. I'm not sure how much you need to make before you become a Nancy Pelosi donor who is suffering because of a tax law that is supposedly for you. In any case, Cuomo & Pelosi & others scream about tax cuts for the rich while screaming their rich are being over taxed.
By any rational standard, the insanity of the lie in their mantra is breathtaking, but the deeper lie is the hiding of the fact that New York, New Jersey, California, etc. Have such high taxes that rich people can't afford to live there. And it's those rich people, the rich enough to bribe politicians class, that suffers from tax cuts for the middle class, the truth of the 2018 tax reform.
The irony that the "Trump tax cuts for the rich" actually Do the "tax the rich" policy that folk like Bernie Sanders and other lefty millionaires dependent on the rich for campaign money never do, is priceless.
Unless you're wealthy in a high tax state, in which case you have an actual bill from the IRS.
