New one! Tried to start 08 Uly in middle of nowhere today and nothing. Absolutely not a sound. Kept cycling the on/off switch and turned key on/off repeatedly and finally starter turned over. Did it six times today. Heard starter solonoid click as if dead battery on one occasion. Very strong when it connects. Not battery. Checked the battery terminals and also at starter. All tight. One more nail in the coffin with this bike. Need reliability. Stopped at dealership and they documented it. Wouldn't do it there. Did it again as soon as returned home. Oh; almost 15,000 miles. Wheel bearings probably next I guess....... |

Which safety circuits were activated? The same each time? Any other problems? Joe |

Relay, Relay, Relay......Getting old and senile. I'll buy one today. Too much messing with service. If works; great. If not. Well, that's great too. Thanks.... |

Replaced relay for a poor start situation. Worked two days. Back to unreliable start again. Can hear clicking at starter on some attempts to start. Hear nothing when start button is pushed on others. When working normal; the starter barely can push the piston over the compression stroke first try. Have to hold button down until it grunts the piston over and starts. Is this overheating the starter relay? Not certain how relays are made today. Ground is tight to starter and battery. Cranks fast when she catches. It either works or click, click or nothing. I'll try another relay. It seemed to fix it before; or maybe I just got lucky for couple days. |

Gary: Did you check the battery cables? I heard they can loosen up and cause a similar issue. Mark |
