I finally got around to recovering the Euro seat that goe's with my tail section. I just never really liked the BIG embroidery work on it. I decided I wanted really different so I typed in Exotic Skins on Ebay and bought the Horned back of a Aligator that was dyed black. This is how it turned out. I dig it.

Sweeeet!!!! Do you mind posting a link to where you got the skin? Did you just buy it and take it to a local taylor? I am also interested in having my Euro seat upholstered, I am leaning towards Ostrich or Ray. |

Thanks all.... didn't really know how you's would percieve it. Scarecrow, I bought the skin and let me say its not cheap for a small 17x17 piece your looking at 170 bucks. Then I brought it to a guy that does alot of Automotive interiors... custom and such that also does Chopper seat pans. That ran me another 180. So I have 250 into the seat not including the initial price of the seat. The guy I bought my skin from his name is Bud Camp. His sight is www.exotichides.com . He has what ever you want. Lizard,Frog,Ostrich,Sea Ray,and snakes. Might I add that being your bike is Orange the color Cognac would look slick on your bike.

You mean 240 project. Its still in the work's. It has to be done with spare cash and its not exactly a cheap project. It'll happen though. Its one of the biggie's. |

First they make alligators into luggage to carry your stuff and now they make them into seats to carry your ass That looks really cool. It goes well with your exceedingly artistic and often scary (clowns! Eeeek!) Buell. |

Thanks for the info Bads1, I do like that Cognac skin and I think Ostrich will be out of the question, a little too pricey. |

Ostrich is expensive because you need to buy a large piece in order to use it. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a scrap chunk on Ebay. Gator is expensive by far in comparison. Look what you get for 170.... little piece just enough to do a small seat. |

Welcome to the Custom World. Thanks for the prop's but on the flip side build or making anything to everyones liking is never going happen. Your taste must be all black. |

Well, someone doesn't take criticism well do they. Why don't you relax?! I never said anything about my bike did I? I commented on your paint scheme. Actually, I complimented you on your skills. Obviously, you have a wild paint job. Looks complicated and very involved. Yeah, I do like black. If I wanted a rolling easter egg, I'd have my bike painted. In MY OPINION, I think the Lightning looks best when it's simple. I like the "That's how it should look from the factory..." understated, custom approach. Ha! "Welcome to the Custom World..." What a joke, I've been customizing cars and motorcycles since I was 15 years old. Hey, if you want a bike that looks like a chopper, you should just get a chopper. Can you add any more themes to that thing? Hmmm, clowns, painted on gears and mechanicals, yellow lettering on the tires, stock XB orange wheels, and now, an alligator seat. I'm glad you like it, doesn't mean everyone has to. (Message edited by cgocifer on October 07, 2007) (Message edited by cgocifer on October 07, 2007) |

Yep like chopper's to. Now I have the best of both worlds young man. I take criticism just fine other wise I wouldn't do what I've done to my bike past car's and bikes. Remember DANO I didn't start talking crap about your bike ya frigg'n loud mouth. LOL Your crap doesn't bother me. I love listening to people like you. What a tool. |

It never fails. Every forum out there has guys like you. You post your mods and pics of your stuff hoping to revel in the applause. When someone gives you what you consider to be negative criticism, you make sarcastic comments back to that person. You even went as far as to look up my profile pic to see what kind of bike this person who dared to say they didn't like your bike had. Funny actually. Hey, you said it best yourself when you remarked that you can't please everyone with custom designs. Come to think of it, it shouldn't matter what anyone thinks except you. Are you sure you're older? Your comments sound as if they are coming from someone in their 20s. "...ya frigg'n loud mouth. LOL Your crap doesn't bother me. I love listening to people like you. What a tool..." Wow, even using some personal attacks now. Exactly my friend, I love listening to people like you. Very entertaining indeed. (Message edited by cgocifer on October 07, 2007) |

Dano usually a mature person and one that says he's customized things as you have doesn't make any negative opinion at all unless its good. I don't care who likes it... its mine. I've always believed its better to say nothing at all if I have nothing good to say. I've also stood up for other's when various poster's have negative to say of ones bike. Its not right... its not polite to say the least. As far as my bike is concerned?? Its been insulted by better then you and its.... by what you call reveled by many.....Magazine,Erik himself,Queensryche.....which its my bike that Erik seen at really dug and called me to have my painter do the bands bikes. Yeah I'm proud of it. I frigg'n love it.LOL |

I've wasted too much time on this thread already. You may recall that my initial comment that sparked this nonsense was "Man, you have a lot going on with that color scheme! Not really my taste, but props for nice quality and attention to detail." Now, I didn't think I said anything negative. I simply stated that you had a lot going on... detail-wise! There are many, many details. Did I say it was a crappy paint job? No! Did I say it looked bad? No! I complimented you on your attention to detail and quality of work. I just said that it isn't my taste... FOR ME! I like monochromatic paint, black in particular. That's all. You took that comment way out of context. Does it influence me in the least bit that Queensryche, magazines, and Erik applaud your bike? lol, not at all. If I was offered a chopper or '32 roadster with a $30,000 paint job or a chopper or '32 roadster with a classic suede, or black laquer paint job and no frills, I'd take the latter. |
