Not to be an ASS....But HD cant even take care of Buell correctly at the dealer side to run it effectly as a correct business.
I have never seen such a big company as Buell ran so poorly for years. Oh....wait I take that back.. Yes I have seen many companies doing the same stuff for years.. There is a big world in between corporate level thinking and reality at the consumer level. So many companies fail at this understanding..

And they have own Buell for over 10 years and still suck at it. You can have the greatest product in the world but if you can not service it or take care of the customer your business goes under.. So tired of seeing miles of clothing and chrome crap for HD and not a single thing for Buell or even half a full run of bikes at the dealer. Always 1 or 2 models if you even lucky at that. Yeah that a great way to make money..Only have 1 bike on the floor out of 8 models. Smart real smart!! Hell just having a Buell sign outside on the building would be nice... I beat Buell would do better running everything from the internet and getting away from HD all together at the dealer level..

I only see even more problems with adding Ducati to it..

Ridrx - Uh, I'm afraid Bucati is a little to easy to confuse with 'Bukkae' and I'm just not into that or currently willing to go there.. sorry...

As for Buell and others being able to co-exist in dealerships - Battley in Rockville MD has H-D, Buell, Ducati, Triumph, BMW and Yamaha all under the same roof. They seem to practice a kind of multiple personality disorder amongst the sales folks.. seems they alter their view of riding depending on what type of machine the CUSTOMER is looking for. I guess this is a very radical idea, actually trying to match the customers wants and needs to the machine, instead of the other way around. While I can't speak to their success at such things.. they are one of the oldest Buell dealers in the US and have been around for quite a number of years prior to this, so they must be able to do something right. No?

If it's done the right way and Buells leave the H.D. dealerships to enter the Ducati ones, then it would be great.

Back in France I know of two dealerships that specialized in "exotic" motorcycle.
So they sold Ducati, Triumph, Buell and H.D. One of them told me he had to drop H.D. and Buell because he didn't liked the idea of having to repaint his shop orange. (And these guys had done crazy things with sportsters like entering one in an enduro competition in the sand dunes one year and another one at the same competition fueled by propane gas).
I just checked the other one and they had to drop the Ducatis...

I know for a fact the first dealer was forced by H.D. to stop as their "store model" couldn't be accommodated by his business. I'm left with speculations about the other one since they seem to be selling Triumph motorcycles in the same building (mind you there are actually 2 entrances and 2 counters in that building).

Anyways it was so great to go there when they had a demo day and be able to ride Buells, H.D. and Triumphs the same day (maybe the fact that I couldn't test ride their Dukes that day was a hint of what was to come...)

When you have what HD has (insane sales with what is arguably an inferior product in some categories), you are not going to let your bikes be sold alongside the competition. Why? Fear.

Isn't Ducati owned by a big conglomerate in Italy anyways? I thought there were really only two companies that actually produce Ducati, Moto Guzzy, MV Agusta, etc.

Guzzi and Aprilia are now owned by scooter maker Piaggio. (Aprilia bought Guzzi before being bought by Piaggio).
