I cheated on my loved brand Buell today. I went to a KTM demo day and got to ride the superduke 990 :-), this thing is a real beast and the grin in my face was as big as the one when I ride a Buell so now my heart is is balancing between the 2 bikes a xb12s or the 990. Both have there good and very little bad thing for them. The only thing that could make me go for the Buell more then the 990 outside of the price tag would be that even if it sound weird the Buell will keep me more under control then the 990.

The Dukes are expensive, but really so are Buells. The Duke looks awesome and the reviews I read on them had my heart racing. I want one too! I'm assuming you already have a Buell in which case...get the KTM! |

I think the KTM looks hideous! The tank looks pregnant compared to the rear of the bike, and what's with that wimpy-looking swing arm? |

07xb12scg no I don't have a buell but I wanted one for sure before today now I have an other contender in the game. I did however ride lots of Buell on demo days or just the dealer letting me take one out so I have a good base to compare the two. I'm suppose to go back this week and get a real ride with the bike without babysitter watching me this time. |

I also think the superduke would have higher theft. Stunt riders know about the KTM brand just like they know about the Duc. brand. Already having a bike stolen, I like the fact that most other bikers I meet know nothing about a Buell or what is hidden under the hood. I ride every day so it nice not to have to worry as much as if I where riding a ninja or a gixxer. Many HD folks I run into think my buell is a mono cyclinder and ask "Can that keep up with traffic on I-95". |

Both are good bikes at different price points, buy the one you like, and tell us about it. The superduke 990 is a great bike. No worries. |

"Many HD folks I run into think my buell is a mono cyclinder and ask "Can that keep up with traffic on I-95." Any true HD enthusiast/rider (not a wild hog type) should know immediately that the Buell XB uses a VTwin very similar to that of a Sportster just by looking at the primary case. If not that, then the two, big cylinder heads should make it obvious. |

Uuh, point of clarity: you can't actually see the cylinder heads on any XB. Cylinders yes, heads no. But I agree, it's the superficial, wild hog types who wouldn't know a Sportster from a Dumpster making that kinda statement. |

That bike (in orange) was #1 on my list before I bought my Buell....... because they were not importing into Canada. I waited about 3 months after placing an order before I gave up, I am not sorry I bought the Buell but maybe one day I will have the KTM. (Message edited by bake on May 27, 2007) |

The KTMs are enticing. I'm waiting for the Venom/RC8. Of course we'll have to see what Buell is coming out with in July. |

They wont let me demo the Super Duke at the local store, nor the SM950.... Maybe I should drive there rather than show up on my Buell. They think I am going to go off road with it They see right through me and my plans

even if it sound weird the Buell will keep me more under control then the 990. Doesn't sound weird at all, that is what brought me to Buell in the first place. I think the KTM looks hideous! The tank looks pregnant compared to the rear of the bike, and what's with that wimpy-looking swing arm? Are you going to make love to it or ride it? Just put two grocery bags over the tank and have a good time. (Message edited by spatten1 on May 27, 2007) |

i demo'ed the superduke and absolutely loved it !...rode my xb 9 home from the demo and "still" loved my Buell !!(that don't happen often , most of the time after a demo i'm "jones'en" for the bike i just demo'ed) but, IF i didn't already own a BUELL i would buy a KTM superduke !!! |

Sparky: Yes, you are correct, I meant cylinders as in the "barrels". The heads are mostly hidden by the frame with the exception of the front peeking out here and there. The Super Duke may be hideous to me, but the Venom RC8 looks awesome!! If I could afford that kind of cash for a bike, I'd probably get one. (Message edited by cgocifer on May 28, 2007) |

The KTM is pretty damn nice. It doesn't quite do it for me like the Buell does but so far nothing does. Except perhaps the soon to be released Ducati Hypermotard. It's the only thing out there that makes the same gasping noises come out of me as when I first saw a Buell XB. I sure wouldn't mind a test ride on that KTM though |

See for me until I tried nothing was doing it over the Buell and I never liked the hypermotard since for now I'm riding a supermoto bike and the duc is far from being one and it just piss me off that everybody call anything with 17" wheels a SM. The hypermotard, the 950SM and the xbstt are far from being SM bikes they just look like it but in no way they handle or are light enough to be called SM. |

I looked at the KTM last week. If they would have had an R I would probably be trying to figure out how to squeeze another bike in the garage. |

I rode at Deal's Gap with a guy that had one. It was sweet, and he was flying. He stated that he had taken it to a local MX track and got some air with it. He said he played around until he cased a big double. He had to dig the mud out of the bottom with a screw driver, and yes he was MXing it on street tires. At any rate the Super Duke is nice. |

Well this guys is crazier then me causer I don't think the SD got much more travel then an XB so I wonder how you would just the thing and it's 405lbs dry too so it takes someone that doesn't care for hes bike. Over that I would say that 17k$ or around 15k$ in the States he is almost dumb for doing that with this bike. |

I will be buying that RC8 Venom if they ever get around to actually producing it. Unless Buell can make something competitive that is. Of course I will be keeping my XBS as well. (Message edited by dongalonga on June 02, 2007) |

Well since I tried the superduke I wish there would be a Buell with the superduke power. That would be the ultimate bike ever. |
