On April 18th, I posted a new method to polish the early uncoated headers. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/272308.html?1177038318 The headers looked good, but I was wondering how long they would stay shiny.
Now after a month and a half, and a thousand miles of riding, I must say that I am happy with the way they look. I have not polished them at all since the original post, but I have removed some road tar spots.
The pipes are turning a nice gold, darker near the heads, and they have not gotten at all "splotchy" or stained as they would when I just polished them with the Eagle One. I could probably polish them back to their silver, almost chrome look in about 5 minutes with the Luster Lace, but I like the gold color, and of course, I like not having to do any work too.

Thanks Obie. The timing cover is an old Buell accessory, from the pre XB days. |

I like that silver look. you used something called Luster Lace? I want to polish mine up - from what I'm reading/seeing, there are different versions/finishes on xb pipes depending on 9 or 12, or this year or that year. is this correct? if so, if I wanted my 2003 xb9r (build date July 2002) header pipes polished silver, what would be the product of choice? Eagle 1? Luster lace? AutoSol? others? |

Spuds, Click on this link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/272308.html?1177038318 This will give you the technique I used to polish my pipes. It will work fine on your 2003 XB9R. |

Your header looks good. I don't really polish mine. I clean it with the bike so there really blue towards the heads and pitted around the bends. I'm thinking of sending them to Jet Hot for a coating. I keep the whole bike shined up, just not the header. I think it gives it more of a bad-ass look. |

Gotta love that satan finish. I have a slight scuff on my header from a lowside a few weeks back. No dent, just a light kiss from the pavement. Do you think that coating would hide it? |

Gj, Header looks great. Tdiddy, "...Satan finish..." Does that mean it looks like hell? Down in the bowels of hellfire and brimstone...Satin is not happy. |
