My finace' just got an Scg and we were wondering what folks are using for luggage. We ordered the Buell tank bag (standard) and we were looking at the pics of the side bags and tail bag for the bike on the Buell web page however the pics sure do not show much as to capacity. We usually go for three or four day weekend trips and she likes to carry stuff (whatever stuff means).

Jeez. I'm guessing you'd have to jack up the suspension settings hardcore to put luggage and a passenger on an Scg or it will bottom out all over the place. And with the short stroke that seems like it will be very harsh riding. I could be incorrect.

You could pull a Pontiac with and SCG! j/k don't try it but I seen a picture on here I believe of some hardbags that looked good. Prepare to spend some duckets (aka $$$)

I have the tail bag on my XB12scg and it works well. I just used it at Myrtle beach. The fit to the seat is good and it does not seem bulky. You do have to remove the seat to install the bag.

The storage is limited. I carry a hat, visor cleaner , spare shirt, wallet and some maps. You probably can not fit a pair of shoes in the tail bag.

Hope this helps.

If you are planning on riding two up, your only possibility is the tank bag. Buell says you're not supposed to ride double with their saddlebags.

You could check out the Ventura luggage rack that American Sport Bike sells.

I guess I should have been more specific. I traded up from my 01 goldwing to an 06 Uly with luggage so we will not be rideing 2 up. She just for some reason does not think that there is enough storage in my hard bags on the Uly.Thanks WpaDave.

I got the Ventura on my Scg.

The Ventura system is the by far the most versatile luggage I've ever used on a bike.

You can carry either a 35 or 45 liter bag with a passenger or if you're solo, you can zip together two bags, 35/35 or 35/45 or 45/45 for ridiculously huge carrying capacity.

There is also a smaller rack and a 10 liter sport pack available. Also a grab bar.

I had the Buell tank-bag, saddlebags, and 'wedge'tailbag, and while they're ok for short local runs, they don't offer much space for trips. *** the saddlebags velcro straps seem to gum up quickly in dusty environments, then the bags will flap on bumps.

thanks to a complete mis-cue with a trade in bike at work, I just scored some Oxford Sport Humpback saddlebags - lo and behold, they CAN be fitted to the 'short' wheelbase bikes without having to mess with the rear indicators, and without masses of work to the bags. I even managed to wrap the optional shoulder straps around them so I can turn them into duffels/shoulder bags when I'm off the bike. At a combined ( expanded) volume of 45 liters, each bag is about the combined capacity of the Buell saddlebags, and there's also a 28L humpback tank/tailbag available - gonna have to look into that.

There are a new set of hard bags from H&B for the Lightning, they are up on their website. Called the Juniors and you can get them in either 30 or 40 litre sizes. plan on spending as much as you did on the ULy hard cases. Or you could go with the Pelican cases from cariboucases.com Or just pack less and buy what you need along the way ;)
