I don't have them in my hands yet, but I wanted to try to get them in before this weekend. They don't take credit cards on their site. What do they do? They send them out with an invoice and tell me just to send them back the invoice with a check. How cool is that? I know it doesn't cost that much, but I thought it was really cool of them. |

Let us know how they work out. I'm looking at getting a set of these (starting to get some chilly mornings on the way to work). Could've used them for the Mid-Ohio weekend (38F and raining when I left my house Saturday morning). |

LOVE THEM!!! I can't believe I waited so long to get them. With a 2 setting switch the low will really cook my hands. I'll use the high setting to start with but even in January 30-40, around freezing, I'll have to put them on low setting. Their switch is not that attractive. I went to a Marine store and got a lighted 3 position switch (low-off-high). They also had waterproof boots to cover them. I stopped using my winter gloves and started using just my fall gloves (thinner material). Other great thing about these is you still can use what ever grips you'd like and nobody knows you have them installed on the bike unless they notice you've mounted a switch someplace obvious, like I did on the fairing support. |

I'm planning on picking a set up for this winter, i figured with my CityX hand guards plus warmth it will make for a very comfy ride. (Message edited by frequency on October 10, 2006) |

I have the heated grips from American Sport Bike and they are great. The polly looks interesting with the inside the handlebar approach. Do the wires run down through the handbar, or out the end? Heated gear makes all the difference. Best upgrade ever. |

On my R I drilled a hole on each bar. I located the hole under the left and right switch housings. The wires run along with the other wires into the switch housings. I ran the wires thru the handlebars from that hole I drilled to the end where the heater unit slides in. I drilled as small of a hole as I could and still fish the wires thru. I used heat shrink tubing at wear points. I can get some photos. (Message edited by t9r on October 10, 2006) |

I only drilled the holes for the wires. The other holes were already present for locating the switch housings.

Roc, Have you experienced any "stickiness" from the throttle side with them on? Obviously the inner throttle sleeve will expand, but I am assuming that the outer sleeve expands equally so no sticking. |

Don't joke about my nunchucks, they will take you down Ft. No undue sticking of the throttle sleeve here. Though still trying to find an adhesive that will not wear out for the left side grip. |

No problems at all, original stock grips also. My father in law has them on his S3T, more miles than me and no problem. |

I just installed them last night. No problems at all. Very easy. I wasn't very impressed at first. I switched them on and they warmed a little, but not much. I cleaned up the typical metal dust, wire strippings and zip tie tails. Then, I went back and grabbed the grip. Dayam! Them's HOT! I'm glad I got the two level kit. You could only use the one temp kit in winter.... in Anchorage! (Message edited by ft_bstrd on October 12, 2006) |

so i have never seen the ones you are talking about. they are an insert for the bars or something like that? that would have my interest more than the regular style grid panel that gets stuck on under the grip. |

How well are grip heaters supposed to work? Even on low the grips got pretty darned hot. I had to cycle it on and off on low to keep it from getting too hot to touch. |

I just wired my XB12 up this weekend. I figured with the cold snap in weather I better get them rigged up. On Low it uses 6v on High 12v. This morning it was 41 deg F and I used the Low setting. Depending on the gloves you use depends on if you'll need to cycle the power because it gets really warm. Here are some photos of the install. Disconnect power... or remove battery.
Tear into handlebars. Drilled them out already.
Handlebars done and mounted. Wires on left side run thru the switch housing. Wires on the right run between the upper mount and the brake lever mount, out of the bar.
Mounting the switch.
Find a 12v source when key is ON. This is the connector for the Exhaust servo motor that is not used when the Race kit is installed.
Wire in the relay (I'm very proud of this one).
Colorful view from above. Green and Yellow wires run up to the front of the bike, connecting near the head bearing.
This is the switch I thought about using at first. This switch has an LED on the tip of it, red when in use, white when not in use. $15 switch, $3 boot.

How water resistant it is? That was my issue with anything. I tend to get caught in many rain storms throughout the year. I've not seen a switch fail in quite some time, other than break apart. (Message edited by t9r on October 17, 2006) |

I haven't taken it apart to see how it's made, but it is specifically manufactured for use in a motorcycle grip heater set-up. I like it because it's low profile and unobtrusive. |

If you are using polly heaters, particularly if you haven't started drilling holes for switches, you probably want to keep an eye on this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/655892.html?1319120456#POST2136092 |
