Thought about going the Buell Suspension kit for my city.. who has done it and what is it like before and after? Also do you adjust the Suspension to the same book specs or do they come with new specs?

I am interested in the same. Also should anything else be done to the suspension like revalving or anything else? |

Get springs for both ends matched to your weight. Carts from traxxion dynamics for the front. Penske two or three way for the rear. |

Donald, You have any recommendations where to get what you mentioned above? |

Thought about going that route but I'd rather setup that can still go up and down with the riders weight.. I plan on selling it next spring/summer.. |

Going up or down depending on rider weight means just adjusting the preload to set your sag. You are going to do well enough with the stock suspension since you're talking about selling it anyways. If you're much heavier or lighter than the "average" rider (whatever that means) - then re-springing to match your weight is a good thing - also single rate springs make the handling more predictable (though a tad less comfy on a daily ride basis since it's not as "soft" on first part of travel) |

I'm 6'1" 240 not including my tank bag and how much crap I happen to pack.. I've heard few times that bigger riders benefit from stiffer springs.. seeing how its 100 bucks it wouldn't hurt.. For MY 10k service I'm going to do my fluids and spark plugs and have the dealer to the fork oil and rest the check list. I figured that while they are at it they could change out the front springs and I'll do the rear later or before.. |

You can get the penske from American Sport Bike I think (and probably other sponsors). I'd check the sponsors for the other stuff as well but if you don't find anyone that can sell Traxxion dynamics carts then just call them directly. They have a web page as well. This solution would not be the in-expensive one though... Just so you know. |

Ted, At your weight, you would certainly benefit from stronger springs, and fitting them at the 10K when you have the fork oil changed would mean you get them installed for little or no money. The spec.s are different. Best place to start is by setting the sag first, then dialing in shock settings. What I did was send my front and rear suspension to Trackside Engineering, and got the shocks re-valved at the same time. The difference that I found is that before the upgrade, my bike was would wallow in fast corners with any bumps in them. ( I weigh 235# in my gear.) Now it does not. Feels better planted all the time. Ideally, I would have the fork oil change, spring change and re-valve done by a suspension specialist who attends track days near by. That way you can work on the set up with a pro, - helps a lot. Of course if you do not plan on doing track days, and are going to sell the bike soon, perhaps just fitting the springs at the oil change makes the most financial sense. |
