Blake, I have tried for months now to get this handled properly and fairly. I defended Buell even in the midst of problems. Dyna just posted this on sacborg and it will back up just how reasonable I have been.

When a comapany will not make good on a bad product (especially a high ticket item) I believe that going public is the only way to handle them.

The belts and headlights are serious safety items. Becasue I can not get the front wheel bearing handled under recall by two different dealers I am forced to make a stink.

If you want to ban me from here becasue I am very unhappy with Buell that is your choice. I would be a bit disapointed though because I have not been nasty to anyone on this board or threatend any type of violence or illegal act. Negative about the brand? Yes.

I do not see where being negative about the Brand violates any BWB policy though. Am I missing something?

People don't get banned from BadWeB for being unhappy, expressing unhappiness or for wanting to discuss problems with their motorcycles. Anyone who makes such an assertion is not being honest. Repeatedly misbehaving here will eventually get one banned.

You have never been banned. You may have been suspended, which allows continued access, but no posting. If you were to be banned, you would not be able to even access the board.

I've read you statements elsewhere. In your current state of mind, you have no business on BadWeB. If you are an honest honorable man, you will be able to admit this.

I don't understand people who seek to "go to war" against a motorcycle manufacturer. What a miserable existence it must be choosing to focus on causing others harm purely out of vindictiveness for a broken motorcycle. I'm pretty sure that the last thing that the folks at Buell want is for any Buell motorcycle owner to suffer problems with their motorcycle.

Unfortunately, some folks choose to invest far more perseverance and effort in waging miserableness. In truth had such folks put that same kind of determination into a determined, respectful, and honorable attempt to resolve the issue, they would almost always find wonderfully positive satisfaction. Instead they spread miserableness. Like I said, I don't understand that kind of behavior. Life is WAY too short on this Earth to waste on miserableness.

We all now know well your unhappiness and frustrations/dissatisfactions with your Buell motorcycle and your view of the company and dealerships. You've said your piece and then some. Enough.

I don't care to discuss the issue further. I don't care to read any more excuses for your misbehavior here. I'm interested in more positive discussion.

Blake, You are correct about the fact this is the wrong place to be upset. In my defense it is the result of not getting any results doing things the way you and others have suggested.

Apparantly you did not buy your Buell to ride it like a sportbike. I only buy bikes that I can beat the crap out of, and I haven't been disapointed by a single Japanese bike since 1988. They have take obscene amounts of hard riding. I expect the same from my Buell, with it's 52 inch wheelbase and "own the corners" mantra. You don't own corners without hammering on the brakes and using all of the throttle.

I get pissed when people blame broken bikes on riding them hard. That is BS, which is why Buell had those "crazy Europeans" beat on the XBs to reveal weaknesses before they were released for production. I am confident that Buell intends for these bikes to be ridden hard, they are not under the assumption that they are V-Rods or Heritage Softails. They are light and handle well so they can be ridden fast and hard.

You are not hearing me. There is a difference between spirited riding and "track days". Your bike is designed to perform. You will not find ANY chicken strip on my rear. I ride.

I just don't take my bike out to the track and expect to have zero component failures. Those conditions are in excess of the design parameters of the bike. You will have clutch failures, bearing failures, belt failures, and engine failures. A race bike not only has heavy duty components (see XBRR) but also has constant tear down and rebuilds completed.

If you ride on the street like you would on the track, you will have similar results to track riding. Your bike can't tell the difference between a country road and Road Atlanta. It only knows how it's used.

I have no idea of what has happened with Skyguy's bike. I don't know how it has been used. It could very likely be bad. I understand his irritation. I'm not saying that he necessarily did anything wrong.

I will even go one step further and say that to date, Buell reliability has not been even close to as good as their Japanese competitors. They are improving, but I don't see it much different from a Ford vs. Toyota discussion.

If you plan on kicking the crap out of your bike on a regular basis, understand that a Buell will probably not hold up as well as a Yamaha or Honda. Conversely, I have found that parts for the Buell are significantly cheaper.

Take that for what it is.

I still don't know how much headlight reflectors cost, nor do I know how much it would cost to convert to the '06 belt.

Anyone know?

The 06 belt setup is around 500.00. I dont know about the headlight reflectors and refuse to replace junk with more junk. I would go with the custom 90mm Hella light upgrade that a couple of folks here have done. That puts out real light and looks to be under $120.00

Thanks Skyguy.

I guess my reason for asking is that it looks like for around $600, you can fix two of the three major gripes with the bike.

You shouldn't have to pay for it. If the parts are defective, Buell should replace them for you.

That said, how much is your peace of mind worth. If I had a restoration bike I love in the garage that only needed $600 of repairs to work like I wanted it to, I'd spend the $600 to get it fixed.

I don't make bags of money. I place my emotional outlook on the world pretty high, though. $600 to become right with the world is pretty cheap therapy.

16,000 miles. only real problem is the belt, all 5 of them this season. 03 XB9R. i dont really complain about the belt, why? because im pushing almost 150 horse through it some of the time and things happen. i even totaled my bike once because of stripping some teeth off the belt under load and flipping it over at about 70. it drove itself home even in that condition.

one oil fitting, and one set of lines. the lines were only because the 03's didnt have the clamp holding them apart that the newer models do. i mena, i have never even replaced a gasket in it. not a single gasket. even the inspection cover ones

i have blown a fork seal out at about 13,000 when slammed the front down from a wheelie. whos fault is that? mine. just like the belts as far as i'm concerned. i did have one belt last 300 miles. it got warrentied because it was rock hard when we pulled it out of the box anyway, but i wanted to ride so we tried it.

my bike hits the revlimiter everytime it's out. does constent wheelies, and melts the sides off the tires. heck i even jump the thing to the point that i literally crushd the stock exhaust can almost 2" when i came down to hard. it has no noticable oil usage even though it has many hours running at well above 6 and more times then not pushing 7,000 rpm for a fairly consistent continous stretch.

maybe mines a fluke? i dont know, but i am damn happy to have it.

if/when it finally blows it's self apart i'll build it up again. probably even bigger.

Good news, Due to my being vocal on this board a nice fellow from Skip Fordyce got hold of me yesterday. I told him of the problems and he managed to do what no one else has been able to do. Take care of my wheel bearing issue!

He also said that my kickstand needed to be replaced. Funny but that was supposed to have been done quite a while ago.

Nice to find a good apple in the barrel. His name is Morgan and it seems he actually cares about Buell customers.

Make sure that you brag about both the dealership and Morgan to Morgan's boss and to Buell corporate every chance you get.

The squeaky wheel get's the grease, but you must squeak in the positive as much as in the negative. And you have done A LOT of squeaking!

The old Yamaha's were really good bikes. I had a 92 FZR 1000 and it was a great bike but it went in 3 times for faulty EXUP system 3 times replacing the whole exhaust other then the header.

He got a hold of me the day before he found the soulution. He called to get details and then followed through with another call.

The negative posts were placed BEFORE he got a hold of me.

I still have very little nice to say about the rest of the problems though. Can't have you disapointed.

As for Morgan, I will go out of my way to let CS at BMC know as well as Morgans boss. To date he is the ONLY person I have delt with that seems to have it together.

I put over 7000 kms on my 2006 City X this year. Not a single problem. I think half the problem is people beating the hell out thier bikes and then are surprised when something breaks.

I think half the problem is people putting miles on their bikes not beating on them. How do you beat on a bike to wear out a stator, voltage regulator, or a battery?

Cixyx, don't mean to bag on you but 7000 kms is not that much. You live in Canada and it probably rains there too so you got a short riding season. Living in SoCal, I did that in 3 months. Stuff doesn't break sitting in a garage during the long cold winter.

I guess I'm beating on my bike too. With only 10,000 mile on the obo-I've gone through 2 stators, 3 batteries, 3 voltage regulators. Also 2 fans and a broken off kickstand. Must be my fault!

I forget the licence plate light cover fell off and the clutch cable broke. But that must be my fault too- If I didn't use the clutch the cable wouldn't have broke.

Blake, First off, I have been flying like crazy and working like a mad man and am not trying to do battle with you.

Second, It was actually a couple of days from the first contact with Morgan at Skips before he called and said he could get the bearings changed out.

Since I can see how my mistake in exactly "what happened when" will be used against me by you and court I will be more carefull in the future.

To think I publicly defended your ethics..........

Tim,

How about some actual dates then? On what dates and times did Morgan contact you? Let's clear this up. Let's all get perfectly honest. Like DaveS, I'm confused as I believe anyone would be who reads your conflicting statements.

I'm relieved that your wheel bearing situation has been addressed, but I think that the way you addressed it and other issues here sucks. If I were Buell or your dealership and read your recent combative hateful posts here, I'd likely have told you to hit the bricks. Good luck with your lawsuit.
