That thread is on thin ice as it is (yes it's a pretty conservitive board, you should have read the agreement you agreed to more carefuly and that would not be such a surprise) if you insult someones girlfriend like that, and he takes offense, you can see where the thread would lead. Can you not? Yes the board is strict, so what? If you don't like the rules there are others less strict, or you could start your own, either way is okay with me. I wrongly assumed (Again!) that because this is a site for and by "bikers" the atmosphere would be a little more like a bar and less like Catholic school. If as you say, "that thread is on thin ice as it is", This quite possibly may be far too conservative a site for me (Probably many others also!), so I will explore other Buell sites to obtain information & entertainment. Like a bar hey??? I got a bar and if a customer is insulting another's girl friend or wife and it brought to the attention to me or any of my bartenders... they are asked to stop. If not they have to leave and don't let the door hit ya in the arse on the way out. If good paying customers have to put up with someones insults or nonsense they don't want to stay.  | ||

No, we just like to keep it friendly. Perception varies from person to person... I myself would have taken offense if you were to say my wife looks like manson. We're here because he have something in common, Buell. Luckily, we have people who don't mind posting pictures of women on Buells... comments on the bikes are more than welcome, I would just be cautious about commenting on the females (or males... see Indian pic). | ||

Shasta you are confusing thin skinned with "conservative". I imagine that most folks here are far from thin skinned. This board has some rules that at times seems oppresive or Draconian. I have learned they are in place so this place stays a community and does not devolve into a place where people are picking fights, afraid to click on at work etc. How many boards have you seen where the people get along so well? How many boards have you seen where when one is in need of something and cash poor people sprint to the rescue? Despite my occasional brush with the boards Moderators and Blake they have all been more than fair. Play by the boards rules and it is a fun place. | ||

J Lunchbox, Now that's what I call some puss on a bike! (God! I just realized you can't even use the word!) Speaking of puss; Who's worried about "picking fights" online? Is that of any REAL concern to anyone? Yeah, I broke this guys nose online the other day! Come ON. Give me a break! I'm old enough to remember when ANYONE who owned a motorcycle, was a rugged individualist. Today the genre has been so diluted by the politically correct and the suit wearing, white people, that any puss with the cash, wanting to make an impression is a "biker". I'm really not trying to start anything here, it's just that it saddens me to see what has become of the motorcycle scene. And, If I went into a bar where someone started a fight over someone's woman (What a novel idea! Like you hold a Title on them, or something?) I'd surely go back there, because THAT'S interesting & entertaining. Not sitting around in a monkey suit watching your "P's & Q's" and worrying about "offending" someone. | ||

Shasta, Yes it is absolutely very much a concern of BadWeB, it's policies, and its custodians that avoid hostile commentary or picking of fights here. It is not "political correctness" to have integrity or to show basic consideration and respect for others. Political correctness has nothing to do with such issues. Political correctness is "of, relating to, or supporting broad social, political, and educational change, especially to redress historical injustices in matters such as race, class, gender, and sexual orientation." BadWeB does NOT seek political correctness, on account of we despise political correctness. Capice? Please show me where Glitch made any kind of threat against you, as you claimed earlier. Dishonest? Okay, maybe you were simply mistaken. I've misread the statements of others, so I must assume that maybe you did as well. I apologize for jumping to the "dishonest" card. The truth though is that there was no threat made against you by Glitch and in fact he invested his spare time in order to contact you offline, out of public view in order to avoid a public scene. unfortunately a public scene is something that you seem to enjoy. You are wearing thin here. For a newb, you are awfully brash and opinionated. I'm suspecting that you are already well-known to the community here. I'll be able to verify that soon enough. What we demand here is not political correctness. What the policies of BadWeB aim to foster is consideration, thoughtfullness and an honest upbeat environment with as little hateful consternation and personal flaming as possible. If you'd rather not be a part of that kind of community, then you are free to depart. It's is entirely your choice. You did agree to the policies of the board. Pwnzr - funny, that was the first thought that crossed my mind, too! hmm - I think what we need here is called a Heuristic sorter. takes input data ( text) and looks for common factors. Antivirus software does it to find 'possibles'...I think we could run a similar program here on the text in posts to good effect, based on spelling, punctuation, grammer, and sentence structure, grouping multiple usernames into single user id's base on 99.9% probability that its the same person. I dont know about in the US, but I know the RCMP have the software - anyone on here a L.E.O., or have the programming skills? save blake some hassle, and we can all have a good laugh finding out publicly who's who. No, all you need is to learn how to do an IP ban, but I don't think ANYONE involved here is smart enough to figure that out! And, even if you do, I have access to dozens of PC, so I'll ALWAYS be around! A bunch of pathetic children. |
