my bike seems to pull harder if when i hit wot in 5th gear, if i back off just a bit. when i do that it seems like it has quite a bit more power actually. what could cause this? |

At what revs? WOT is best at high rpm whereas at lower rpm WOT slows gas velocity in the intake compared to a partly open throttle. (Message edited by lenb on June 22, 2006) |

That's strange. At 6000rpm WOT should work best. It's got me foxed. |

On a carb engine increased power dropping from full throttle to 7/8 throttle would indicate a lean condition at WOT. In that case I would go fatter with the main jet. If it stumbles going back to 7/8 throttle after severals seconds at WOT then you are too fat. |

Take a look at the American Sport Bike site and the Dyno Shoot-out and I think you will see that the D&D does not have the best top end numbers. It pulls like a tractor down low but starts loosing power on top. ... Terry |

that is what i was wondering, because they did the shoot out at wot, and it seems to have more power at say about 7/8 or so. it is fuel injected so i cant change the jets, al said they are still working on the mapping for the d&d. but even if it didnt have the best numbers at the top and all the midrange power, that wouldnt really explain why there is more power at less throttle. i bought the pipe for sound and not really concerned about power, but the condition i have seems like it is lean, which is bad, that is my concern. i didnt notice what gear they do the dyno in. but say if i give it gas on my bike in 5th, right in my power range for my pipe, say 5k all the way to the in the 6k range i have this problem. it is possible it does it in the other gears, but i havent really tried yet, and the gears are alot shorter so it is hard to tell |

Terry: Also remember the race ecm was not designed with the D&D in mind. The dyno plots in the shoot-out are for WOT only. the fuelling map characteristics may be a better match to your pipe at 80% than WOT. Hey Terry, You should consider fixing bikes professionally (Message edited by diablobrian on June 22, 2006) |

My 03 XBS engine light comes on after about 15 to 20 minutes of riding. Then it wants so stumble when I hit higher RPMs. Also has a slight stumble/hesitation from a start. If I keep the bike at low speeds and RPMs for a while the light will go out, but then comes back on when I get on her pretty good. Would the trouble codes identify the problem? Any other ideas? I am runnin the race ECM, D&D, and K&N. Haven't had any problems with this set up for the past 2 years. Almost at 5000 mls. |

Would the trouble codes identify the problem? That's what they're there for. May not say exactly the problem, but would give you a place to start. |
