I was running the Special Ops w/ stock air filter and ECM and was a bit lean. You can check out my dyno run in the knowledge vault. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/189271.html?1146345754

Will this lean condition kill my motor? How do I stop the lean condition of the bike?

Cheers,

Jack

Get a race ECM.

Yes, it will eventually kill your motor.

How do I stop the lean condition of the bike?
If you've not modified the air box, ie: drilled holes in it, cut it open or the like, a Race ECM is the cheapest way to go. You can also get a TFI, although I never had much luck with the one I had. Or you can get the Direct Link, take it to a dyno and get it tuned. You may want to ask Al if he has an ECM configured for Odie's pipe, that would be ideal.

It's going to run lean in open loop (before 3500rpm) because the ECM isn't learning, after that the bike will still run lean, but the bike will try to compensate. If the snorkle hasn't been removed, even better for you. The standard ECM is made to pass EPA standards, thus the lean condition, made worse by the addition of free-er flowing intake and exhaust.
Hope all this makes sense to you.
What I would do if I were you, would be to leave the snorkle in, don't cut the air box. This could save your engine, but I would also get at least a Race ECM as soon as I could.
Besides, to really wake that bike up with Odie's pipe, use the Race ECM, you'll notice the difference!

Picture of one of my spark plugs after 5,000 miles.
Odie pipe, K&N Filter, 2006 Airbox (with the stock cut out), and Stock ECM. Might be worth noting that I live a mile above sea level, and the air is a bit thinner.

spark plug

Does mine look normal or too lean? Looks pretty normal to me. You opinions may vary. : )

I've since bought the Race ECM, and it does make a difference in the performance of the Special OPS pipe. Personally, I wouldn't worry about running the stock ECM with your set up. YMMV.
