Is that paint the alsa corp stuff or mirra chrome?

Toona, it's not Alsa corp stuff. I did some tests with Mirra chrome and it's not very good. It's very expensive ($200 cdn for 16 oz!), really fragile and look more like aluminum than real chrome. To get a chrome look, you have to spray it on a perfect surface like a fresh cleared and buffed finish, and it not tough.

This is a real chrome process made by a friend of mine who got a $65k machine to do it.

Diablobrian, if it look good, I'll show some pictures when it will be completed. That's because I make some experiments at the same time. With R&D, we can have good.... or bad surprise in the end!

Crusty, my hat is off to you. I was complaining this morning how cold it is in So. Cal!

You're hard core dude.

Sinatra, its very unique looking... I wouldn't do it myself but I think it is very distinctive and original. This is what makes us Buell owners different and even, yes i'll say it, BETTER than "other brand" owners.

OK, flame on!

Nice work Booger.
You might want to consider painting the pucks as well, either silver like the frame, or blue to match the plastic.
Both alternatives are illustrated in this thread.

boogman - why did you make new plastics rather than just painting the old ones? It seems to me like the mold making, part making, and painting would be more work than it is worth, unless you really like dealing with fiberglass molds. I cannot say that I do.

thanks for the comments people ..

I want to keep the original parts .. in the event I want to sell .. Im kinda over the yellow color but may put it back on .. as others have a few different sets ..

It would be easier to just paint the originals .. or purchase another set .. but out here in Australia Parts are WAY expensive .. and I checked out a complete kit from DaveS however including shipping the $$$ would be over $1200 aussie ..
Upto this point the fibreglass project has cost me about $300 AUS .. and a $hit load of learning .. A bit of fun ..

I dont really like doing the work with fibreglass and resins .. for the obvious reasons .. itchy .. and bad fumes .. but the end result of making something that looks ok to me makes it worthwhile ..

If the parts were only a few hundred .. then I would have just purchased them ..

Agree .. its a bit of work .. thought to give it a go .. as I had only done surfboard repairs etc
in the past .. Turned out better than I thought

Nice painted triple tree Lonexb - but take them other keys off the ring
before you go riding lest you get it all dinged up. (speaking from experience...)

I agree with you Blackxb9! I've been trying to find the time and decent enough garage weather to do the same thing to my
front end. I've already got the black frame, swingarm and gauge mount. This weekend the gold wheels come off to get
powdercoated black and the front end and case covers will be all black by the time I get them back. Next winter I'm going
to buy the right side airscoop and take it, all of the black plastic covers and all of my red plastics to my step brother to get a
custom color put on them. I can't decide what color I want though. I thought about black, but then the entire bike would be
black, so I'm thinking either silver with a black metallic flake or a really dark blood red with a silver flake. Anyone got any
interesting ideas for a color to go with an all black bike? I'll post pics when I get all of my current projects done, and then
again next winter when I get my paint done.

Yesterday it was 48 degrees and sunny here. I took a small ride to enjoy the day while Mama and the kids napped. Erik builds a great bike!

These photo's were taken last summer. Mods are mostly cosmetic. Ride safe all!

the triple tree is not painted. everything was powder coated. as far as the keys go, never had a problem on any of my other bikes with them dangling like that, but thank you for the warning.

Come on shameless that was a little over the top. Your not coming off as the most friendly person yourself with that for your first post. How about a pic of your 12r instead of picking a
fight over the internet. Not intended to be a flame man, but come on. I was a little confused by that picture too, but the advise he gave a little later in the thread was more than
appropriate. I left some keys on my key ring and I made the top of my triple tree look like crap just as he was talking about. Smoke a j and take a chill.}
