Al, we were there last year just before the second hurricane stuck. Make sure you get the airport very early, as the queues (lines) went right round the terminal with people trying to get out before it hit! Good luck.

I would think that the race kit setup is already catered for with the race ECM though?

actually i use stock ecm with race can and filter, and i'm looking for a different tuning than the 'top end settting' of the race ecm...

Don't worry Al.
I've been grumpy lately, and could have been less rude myself.
As long as you and Matt keep acting the way ya'll do, I'll be the one looking like the twat.

If You want to know the truth about reprogramming the stock ECU:

itīs the Technoresearch Direct Link Race Performance Software that can be purchased. I have this tool right next to me on the desk over here in Germany (Yes, it is the same software that SF Bikeparts uses, so NO You dontīt need to send in Your ECU). You can modify fuel and ignition curves for both cylinders within the ECU. It might be a good idea to use a dyno or a Lambda meter or whatever You might think is useful to find the correct setup without destroying Your engine.
Different from some other companies I like it the way Al does: first test it than promote it.
I have the Rapid Bike module as well and we will test it, too.
So the future will show which way to go.

Ride safe

Hmmm Al, after reading some of the literature, I'm wondering if one could use an XB9 ECM on an XB12 to along with one of these two solutions to raise the RPM limiter to 7500 and then re-adjust the fueling for the bigger throttle body of the xb12?

I'm thinking of building a big-bore xb12 using the xb9 crank and the larger axtel or millenium cylinders to get the cc's back to 1250 and then do head and cam mods to get a higher revving xb12 engine that is still reliable....

The documentation for the Direct link software says it allows you to set the rev limiter RPM, therefor I would assume you can set your XB12 ECM to 7500 or whatever.

I don't think you want to turn your stock XB12 much harder then the factory set limit.

I agree Buellman. I think these motors will more than likely hold up fine with another 500-1000 rpms but this is a dangerous theory. There is so much potential there if we could only rev them some more.

i have been regularly spinning my 4.3125 inch stroke sportster up to 7000 rpm. repeatedly, for 4 years. havent had any lower end parts come loose. i should think that the short stroke XB12 could handle an occasional 7500 rpm romp. wouldnt want to run the freeway for two hours at that rpm, but an occasional romp shouldnt hurt.

You guys should re-read my post. I'm talking about rebuilding the 12 with the xb9 stroke and using the same redline as the xb9 (original design parameters regarding piston speed).....

Al,

Hope you made it out in time. I saw last night on the news that Naples was hit hard and the city and hotels are without electricity and water....

The large bore - 9 crank is a very nice way to go, you get good power and get to keep the revs of the 9.

You may want to look at rod treatment (and balance the crank for heavier pistons) as you will go with 9 rods and they can be a little more fragile when you start putting the power to them.

We typically get a little bit of running on them and then treat them and they stand up very well and we will typically spin to 8,200 RPM.

Thanks for the info! That is what I am looking for, more HP, less stroke, and reliability in a street-able package...
